JOB PURPOSE
This role exists for someone who coordinates the team activities to achieve plant safety, quality and production goals. Facilitates teamwork and helps build an effective work relationship with other shifts. Supports members in team coordinator roles, helps resolve operational and personnel issues, supports the training certification process and resolves staffing resource issues. Manage daily production issues, line efficiency improvements, communicating and enforcing policy and procedural compliance and assuring effective use of temporary workforce and be part of a team that believes in doing work that matters — for people and the planet.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and coordinate activities of production staff during the shift: Process / Operation, Start Up / Shutdown Procedure and Oversees the safe and efficient start-up and shutdown of the factory
Resolve operational issues and escalate complex problems to management.
Material Availability: Ensures the upstream Batch System (Storage tanks etc.) is set-up with correct ingredients and quantity to meet the production plan
Operation: Ensures that machinery and equipment in area of responsibility is operated, maintained and changed over efficiently as per SOP
Engineering: Drives development of operators to perform autonomous maintenance and inspection tasks equipment as per schedule including minor maintenance (i.e. replacing belts, chains, hoses, covers, knives etc
Conduct shift handovers and communicate key updates to incoming teams.
Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with company policies.
Resolve operational issues and escalate complex problems to management.
Responsible for accurate approval of T&A hrs
Manages absenteeism and overtime for the team
Responsible to holding his team accountable on production activies and expectations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
National Diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technical qualification
EXPERIENCE & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong leadership and management experience of a large team who work shifts
3- 5 years working experience in manufacturing environment
Sound strategic and operational Production management experience
Strong Industrial Relations experience unionized environment
Support, guide and drive OHS and SHE regulations and standards and ensure compliance

This is a factory - based role in Johannesburg (Boksburg Factory) and requires 100% of time attendance on site.
