Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Director to join our Latin American and Caribbean Property team at Gallagher. This role is pivotal in managing reinsurance business from the region, placing it into international markets, and driving business growth.

 

The successful candidate will be fluent in Spanish and combine strong technical expertise in property reinsurance with commercial acumen, cultural understanding of the Latin American and Caribbean markets, and leadership capability to deliver exceptional outcomes for clients, colleagues, and the wider business.

How you'll make an impact

 

Client Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of key clients across Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Provide tailored strategic advice and property reinsurance solutions to meet the unique needs of clients in the region.
• Ensure the highest standards of client service and support, with a focus on delivering value and results.
• Lead client meetings, presentations, and renewal discussions, both virtually and in-person during regional travel.
• Identify opportunities to enhance and expand client relationships, particularly in high-growth markets such as Chile and Peru.

  

Business Development

• Support the development and execution of growth strategies for the Latin American and Caribbean property portfolio.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the region.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with international insurers, reinsurance markets, and key industry stakeholders.
• Contribute to pipeline management and revenue growth objectives, with a focus on expanding Gallagher’s presence in the region.
• Represent Gallagher at regional and international networking events, conferences, and industry activities to promote the brand and build market presence.

 

Leadership & Team Development

• Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to colleagues within the Latin American and Caribbean Property team.
• Assist in developing talent and fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing working environment.
• Share market intelligence, technical expertise, and best practices specific to the region.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and development initiatives to strengthen the team.
• Champion Gallagher’s values and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

 

Operational Excellence

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and governance standards across all activities.
• Support financial management activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring for the regional portfolio.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies to enhance client outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records and management information to support decision-making and reporting.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver innovative, client-focused solutions.

About you

• Fluent in Spanish.
• Significant experience within property reinsurance, insurance, or a related professional services environment, with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Strong client relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport across diverse cultures.
• Proven ability to identify and develop business opportunities in the region.
• Commercially minded with strong negotiation and influencing skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, including fluency in Spanish (Portuguese is a plus).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, international environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering results.
• Experience leading projects, teams, or client accounts.
• Professional qualifications relevant to the role (e.g., ACII or equivalent).
• Established market relationships and a strong industry network within the Latin American and Caribbean reinsurance markets.
• Experience managing complex client portfolios and large-scale tender competitions.
