Position Overview
Reporting to the Regional Safety Director, we are seeking a highly motivated Safety Representative to provide safety leadership and support for road construction, paving, aggregate, transportation, and mobile equipment operations throughout the Northeast Region. This role is responsible for promoting a culture of safety excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting operational leaders in risk reduction efforts, and driving continuous improvement across the business.
In addition to traditional safety responsibilities, this position serves as the Northeast Region's primary administrator for the Samsara fleet safety platform. The successful candidate will support fleet safety technology, driver coaching programs, performance reporting, and telematics initiatives that improve driver behavior, reduce incidents, and enhance operational performance.
What You'll Be Doing
- Partner with operational leaders and frontline employees to strengthen safety performance, reduce risk, and promote a culture of safety excellence across construction, paving, aggregate, and transportation operations.
- Conduct field audits, jobsite inspections, safety observations, incident investigations, and root cause analyses to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Deliver engaging safety training, coaching, and awareness programs that reinforce regulatory compliance and safe work practices.
- Serve as the Northeast Region's primary Samsara administrator, managing fleet safety technology, driver coaching programs, reporting, and telematics initiatives.
- Analyze safety and fleet performance data to identify trends, improve driver behavior, enhance operational performance, and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with management teams to prepare for regulatory inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, MSHA, company policies, and transportation safety requirements.
- Provide technical support, training, and guidance to managers, coaches, drivers, and field personnel regarding fleet safety best practices and technology platforms.
- Lead regional initiatives that improve accountability, employee engagement, and overall safety performance throughout the Northeast Region.
What Are We Looking For
- Strong knowledge of occupational safety, fleet safety, transportation regulations, risk management principles, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to support construction, paving, transportation, aggregates, manufacturing, or other heavy industrial operations.
- Experience administering fleet management, telematics, or safety technology platforms; Samsara experience strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop practical solutions that improve safety and operational performance.
- Strong communication, coaching, facilitation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence employees and leaders at all levels.
- Excellent organizational, investigative, and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities across a large geographic region.
- Professional safety certifications such as ASP, CSP, CHST, OHST, or similar credentials preferred.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively throughout the Northeast Region, including support of early morning, evening, and seasonal construction activities as needed.
Work Environment
- Frequent travel throughout Pennsylvania supporting road construction, paving, aggregate, transportation, and related operational facilities.
- Combination of office, field, plant, quarry, shop, and active construction environments.
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, moving equipment, traffic control zones, and industrial work environments.
- Frequent interaction with drivers, operators, foremen, supervisors, managers, and executive leadership teams.
- Must be able to comply with all safety requirements and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
