We are currently looking for a Director of Day Program Services to support our Brooklyn Day Program and Queens Without Walls Day Program. These programs are operated by Human First, Inc. - a member of the ADAPT Community Network.

SUMMARY

Under general direction, is responsible for providing direction, guidance and oversight to assigned day program. This role ensures that the program delivers high-quality, person-centered support aligned with ADAPT Community Network’s mission, policies, and regulatory standards. The Director oversees program operations, staffing, budgeting, compliance, and service delivery across multiple sites, ensuring that individuals receive meaningful, goal-oriented services in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of the Director of Day Program Services will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide leadership and direction to all Day Services sites, ensuring programs operate efficiently and in full compliance with OPWDD and other regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and support site-level Directors and Managers, conducting regular supervisory meetings to discuss performance, program operations, and development needs.
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and, when necessary, discipline or terminate staff in accordance with agency policies and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across all programs.
  • Ensure that all program actions and staff interactions are conducted in a manner that upholds the dignity, rights, and safety of all individuals served, and comply with abuse prevention protocols.
  • Oversee implementation and evaluation of person-centered plans to ensure that all individuals receive meaningful and effective supports.
  • Ensure that all program sites maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment, and that all safety and emergency procedures are consistently followed.
  • Develop and oversee operational policies and procedures to maintain consistency and compliance across all sites.
  • Manage division budgets, ensuring fiscal accountability and efficient use of resources.
  • Develop, monitor, and implement long-range program goals and objectives, including expansion opportunities and the introduction of new services.
  • Monitor service delivery to ensure program goals are achieved and that individuals receive high-quality supports promoting independence and inclusion.
  • Lead quality assurance initiatives to evaluate program effectiveness and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Represent Day Services on agency-wide committees, interdepartmental workgroups, and at external meetings with community partners and regulatory entities.
  • Investigate incidents or complaints as assigned and ensure timely resolution in accordance with agency policy and regulatory expectations.
  • Coordinate with transportation services to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable transit of individuals to and from program sites.
  • Prepare and submit reports, evaluations, and documentation as required by agency leadership or oversight bodies.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices related to services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field.
  • At least seven years of progressively more responsible managerial experience, preferably with the developmentally disabled population.
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License in good standing.
  • Strong knowledge of OPWDD regulations, service delivery models, and person-centered planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect with and engage diverse audiences.
  • Ability to achieve goals and deliverables through coordination of many individuals and activities.
  • Ability to accept and work within a wide variety of cultural, educational, and religious differences.
  • Willingness and drive to grow and develop programs and opportunities.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Exhibits professional ethics, discretion, and courtesy when dealing with others.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate staff, volunteers, and interns.
  • Demonstrates proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.
  • Establishes and maintains positive and supportive rapport with staff and supported persons as well as with volunteers, aiding in retention and providing coaching as needed.
  • Passion for ADAPT's mission and demonstrates a commitment to the non-profit disability sector.


COMPENSATION: $70,000 - $75,000 Annually + Industry-Leading Benefits!
