Summary: The Payroll and Benefits Specialist supports the accurate, timely, and confidential administration of payroll and employee benefits. This role assists with payroll processing, timekeeping review, benefits administration, employee questions, recordkeeping, procedure support, and routine reporting. Due to access to highly sensitive employee compensation, benefits, and financial information, this position requires exceptional discretion, integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail. The Payroll and Benefits Specialist works closely with Accounting, Human Resources, and Executive Leadership to support organizational effectiveness while maintaining strong internal controls and confidentiality standards.
Duties:
· Assist with preparing payroll information for hourly and salaried employees.
· Review and validate timesheets, attendance records, pay changes, payroll adjustments, deductions, garnishments, reimbursements, and other payroll-related transactions.
· Maintain payroll records and support documentation.
· Assist with payroll reporting, year-end processing requirements, and payroll procedure documentation.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
· Coordinate new hire enrollments, benefit changes, qualifying life events, terminations, benefits documentation, and employee communications.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit questions.
· Coordinate annual open enrollment activities.
· Ensure accurate record retention and document management practices.
· Support payroll, benefits, and financial audits.
· Identify discrepancies and elevate issues appropriately.
· Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
· Assist in maintaining data accuracy within payroll, benefits, and HRIS systems.
· Support month-end and year-end accounting activities through document preparation and administrative assistance.
· Maintain organized electronic and physical accounting records and provide administrative support to Accounting and HR as assigned.

Requirements
· Education and/or experience equivalent to a two-year degree preferred.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll, benefits administration and accounting support.
· Strong understanding of payroll processes and benefits administration.
· High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Exceptional organizational and recordkeeping skills.
· Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business software systems.
· Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
· Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly.
