Description
Apollo Technical has an immediate need for a Senior Mechanical Engineer north of the Huntersville NC area
Own mechanical systems from concept through delivery for client work and internal projects across machine design, automation & controls, and product development.
Lead technical direction and day-to-day execution in a fast, multi-disciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead design of complex mechanical systems, machines, and automation.
- Produce and manage SolidWorks 3D models, assemblies, and drawings.
- Build quick proof-of-concept models and mockups to de-risk designs.
- Validate designs through analysis; coordinate external FEA/CFD as needed.
- Integrate with electrical and software teams.
- Own drawings, BOMs, test plans, reports, and assembly instructions.
- Turn user needs into requirements and see them through implementation.
- Mentor junior engineers through reviews and technical guidance.
- Own technical success of assigned projects; partner with PM on schedule and budget; act as primary technical decision-maker.
- Coordinate shop, fabrication, and cross-functional teams.
- Lead design reviews and feasibility checks; help shape Statements of Work.
- Apply functional safety and industry standards; help set a consistent engineering and safety baseline.
- Flag technical risk early, drive mitigations, and capture lessons learned.
On-site Several days per week in office. Scope can shift to meet client needs.
Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics (M.S. preferred).
- 7+ years in mechanical design, analysis, and development.
- Strong SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD).
- Solid grounding in thermodynamics, fluids, and structural mechanics.
- Experience designing mechanical interfaces for controls (microcontrollers, PLCs, SCADA).
- Safety background for mechanical and automated systems.
- Proficiency with MATLAB, LabVIEW, or Python.
