Produce Clerk – Full-Time & Part-Time

McKinnon's Market & Super Butcher Shop – Salem, NH

McKinnon's Market in Salem, New Hampshire, is seeking dependable and hardworking individuals to join our Produce Department. Both full-time and part-time positions are available.

The Produce Clerk is responsible for stocking and maintaining an attractive, fresh, and well-organized produce department while providing friendly and helpful customer service. Previous produce or grocery experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Receive, unload, and properly store produce deliveries.

• Stock and maintain produce displays and refrigerated cases.

• Inspect products for quality and freshness.

• Rotate inventory and promptly remove damaged or out-of-date products.

• Prepare, weigh, package, and price produce as needed.

• Maintain accurate department pricing and signage.

• Keep the department, storage areas, and equipment clean and sanitized.

• Assist customers with questions and product selections.

• Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and safe-work procedures.

• Use proper shrink-control and product-handling practices.

• Answer department telephone calls professionally and promptly.

• Complete assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner.

• Perform additional duties assigned by the Produce Manager or store management.

• Dependable, hardworking, and able to follow instructions.

• Strong attention to product quality, freshness, and presentation.

• Good organizational and time-management skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

• Ability to work in refrigerated, wet, and cold environments.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, grasp objects, and climb ladders safely.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.

• Ability to push or pull carts carrying up to 100 pounds of product.

• Previous produce, grocery, or retail experience is preferred.

Flexible availability is required, including a combination of daytime, evening, and weekend shifts. Open availability is strongly preferred.
