Description
The Human Resources Manager/Coordinator serves as the part-time human resources professional for Laurel Education Group, supporting all HR functions across the organization. Working closely with the Executive Director, this position is responsible for payroll and benefits administration, recruitment and onboarding, employee records, personnel compliance, and implementation of human resources policies and procedures. The position ensures compliance with federal and New Jersey employment laws, including New Jersey school personnel criminal history requirements (N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.1 et seq.).

Essential Responsibilities
Payroll and Benefits
- Process payroll and ensure the accurate review and verification of employee timesheets, leave balances, salary adjustments, stipends, supplemental pay, and payroll deductions, while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and applicable federal and New Jersey payroll regulations.
- Administer employee benefit programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations; coordinate with benefits providers; respond to employee benefit inquiries; and maintain accurate, confidential payroll and benefits records in compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Coordinate recruitment, applicant tracking, interviews, hiring, and onboarding.
- Verify credentials, certifications, employment eligibility, and NJDOE fingerprint clearance.
- Maintain complete personnel files.
Employee Records and Compliance
- Maintain confidential personnel records and manage employee separations.
- Ensure compliance with federal and New Jersey employment laws, NJDOE regulations, and organizational policies.
- Support NJDOE audits, compliance reporting, staff training, and HR information systems.
Administrative Support
- Serve as a confidential HR resource for employees and administrators.
- Advise the Executive Director on HR matters and employee relations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
- Human resources experience, preferably in a school or nonprofit environment.
- Professional HR certification preferred.
- NJDOE fingerprint clearance required.
- Knowledge of payroll, benefits, recruitment, HR systems, and employment compliance.
- Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and confidentiality skills.
