Position Summary...
As a Software Engineer III (Azure/GCP Cloud PaaS), you will be responsible for the core infrastructure management, security, and networking of our PaaS platforms. You will deploy cloud resources programmatically using Terraform, ensure global compliance and network isolation, and pioneer agentic and intelligent automation for auto-remediating alerts and operational tasks. What you'll do...
About the Team
The PaaS Foundation team provides the cloud-native platforms, services, and frameworks that power Walmart’s global operations. We are on a mission to enable secure, automated, and intelligent consumption of public cloud offerings across the enterprise, ultimately impacting 260 million customers a week across 11,500 stores and e-commerce sites.
What You’ll Do
*PaaS Infrastructure & Resource Scaling:** Spin up, configure, scale, and provide advanced troubleshooting for PaaS platforms in Azure and GCP (e.g., App Services, Cloud Run, serverless compute, managed databases, messaging systems).
*Cloud Security Enforcement:** Design and enforce global cloud-wide security guardrails, strict IAM/RBAC policies, and manage secure vaulting (Key Vaults, Secret Manager) to ensure strict identity boundaries.
*Advanced Cloud Networking:** Securely connect and isolate PaaS resources by configuring VNets, VPCs, Private Endpoints, Service Endpoints, and firewalls, ensuring all communication is restricted to secure, virtual network-isolated channels.
*Agentic & Intelligent Automation:** Build, maintain, and optimize autonomous systems, platform bots, and automated workflows that auto-remediate alerts and orchestrate repetitive operational tasks without manual intervention.
*Programmatic Deployments:** Deploy PaaS resources and infrastructure entirely via code using CI/CD pipelines, CLI tools, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates (Terraform), eliminating manual portal configurations.
What You’ll Bring
*Cloud PaaS Expertise (Required):** 6+ years of hands-on experience as a Cloud Infrastructure/Platform Engineer, with deep expertise in managing and supporting underlying infrastructure for Azure and/or GCP managed cloud services.
*Infrastructure as Code (Required):** Strong, proven ability to build, deploy, and manage cloud environments programmatically using Terraform and modern CI/CD pipelines.
*Security & Networking (Required):** Proven track record of configuring complex cloud networks (VNets/VPCs, subnets, Private Endpoints) and enforcing global subscription-level security (IAM, RBAC).
*Architecture & Problem-Solving (Required):** Basic solution architecture capabilities to design resilient cloud components, combined with exceptional analytical skills for troubleshooting complex, large-scale production infrastructure issues.
*Development & Automation (Bonus):** Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Shell) and hands-on exposure to building smart scripts, agentic workflows, or LLM-based systems (like RAG) for IT operations.
