Help ensure patients receive the care they need by keeping the financial side of healthcare running smoothly.Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team. Responsibilities
- Process insurance claims and billing activities accurately and timely.
- Review and submit claims while identifying and resolving billing issues.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances according to established procedures.
- Research claim denials and work with insurance companies to resolve payment issues.
- Prepare documentation for appeals and reimbursement requests.
- Maintain accurate financial and billing records within the electronic medical record (EMR) and billing systems.
- Communicate with internal departments and external payers to ensure timely claim resolution.
- Assist with departmental reporting, audits, and quality improvement activities.
- Participate in team meetings and support department initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in medical billing, healthcare revenue cycle, insurance claims processing, accounts receivable, or medical office operations preferred.
- Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) and computerized billing systems preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze billing information and resolve problems independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive financial information with professionalism.
