Overview
Under direct supervision operate the hospital telecommunications center, maintain a smooth and effective flow of external/internal communications and perform guest relation functions.Responsibilities
Operates switchboard: answers and relays long distance, local and interdepartmental calls by making telephone connections using the UA5200 client. Has a professional voice and demeanor at all times. Uses other computer applications (such as Invision, etc.) to ensure patients are directed properly. Respond to emergency calls/events and hospital/lobby emergencies following established protocol. Updates patient directory, BBNET directories for department numbers and team member pagers, telephone directories on extension 3100, and Hospital phone book as necessary to maintain a complete and accurate listing. Assist in identification and resolution of department issues. Is a problem-solver by using performance improvement tools and critical thinking skills to assist patients, visitors, and callers at all times. Connects physicians/nurses/medical personnel to the physician paging service. Reports issues promptly and follows downtime procedures. Follows policy to provide routine information to the public about hospital departments, team members, patients, and meetings. * Follows all HIPAA requirements and the "need-to-know. Performs Receptionists/Greeter functions including but not limited to assisting patients and guests with accurate directions and information which sometimes includes physically walking them to their destinations, assisting vendors with their destinations, delivering flowers and cards according to policies & procedures, transporting patients in wheelchairs to their destination. Follows policy for directing callers to BMC team members during normal business hours, after hours and weekends. Productivity and First Impressions: Realizes this position is the entry way into BMC. Voice, appearance, and behavior must support excellent customer service at all times. Is seen as a resource to patients and visitors at all times.
Qualifications
One year customer service experience, six months switchboard operations and/or related experience as information receptionist. Must have excellent communication and public relations skills. Able to type 30 wpm. Demonstrate basic computer skills, including composing emails. Must be able to carry/pushcart to deliver flowers to patient room and also be able to push visitors/patients in wheelchairs to their destination. Adheres to Talent+ requirements.
