General overview
Compliance Monitoring is part of the UK Regional Compliance function, part of the Second Line of Defence (“2LOD”) which supports Marsh UK businesses (Marsh, Mercer and Guy Carpenter).
What can you expect?
The Compliance Monitoring Analyst will work within the Compliance Monitoring team, to support the Head of Compliance Monitoring in delivering a risk-based compliance monitoring programme across Marsh UK.
Fully integrate with and become part of the Compliance Monitoring Team in the UK to understand the needs of the team and proactively provide technical and administrative support.
What you need to have:
- Complete individual monitoring reviews in accordance with the agreed methodology and process; and ensuring that, where issues are identified, remedial actions are agreed with and carried out by the business.
- To carry out transactional monitoring and testing; to assist with ad hoc data queries arising from Compliance Monitoring reviews.
- To assist in the design and delivery of a robust data analytics, automation, and reporting framework to support Compliance Monitoring in the UK.

Compliance Monitoring Reviews:
- Understands the processes required to complete a Compliance Monitoring review.
- Able to manage / support all components of a review (including scope and approach) to ensure that reviews are delivered to the expected quality within the agreed timeframe.
- Works closely with the business units’ senior management to ensure that the issues identified are clearly understood, that there is appropriate commitment to remedial actions and action taken adequately addresses those issues.
- Carries out peer reviews of completed monitoring reviews, to support the Head of Monitoring in exercising oversight of team activities.
- Ensures that there is a complete audit trail of Compliance Monitoring review activities.
- Prepares monitoring reports to specified standards including format, style and timeliness.
- Provides clear and sufficient evidence to support the need for remedial actions.
- Ensures that critical findings are reported immediately as appropriate.
- Achieves buy-in and agreement from the Accountable Executive to the report findings and agreed remedial actions.
- Gives context to findings and recommendations in relation to wider related risk, control and governance issues.
Data Analytics:
- Assist with the design and implementation of a data analytics and reporting framework tailored to the needs of the Compliance Monitoring UK Team.
- Complete / facilitate data analytics as part of Compliance Monitoring reviews.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify key compliance metrics and reporting requirements.
Automation and reporting:
- Review Compliance Monitoring processes and outputs to identify opportunities for automation.
- Implement automated solutions to increase team efficiency and enhance the value of our outputs.
- Generate regular automated and other ad hoc reports on Compliance Monitoring activities.
- Carrying out comprehensive analysis to highlight trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement
- Present findings and insights to Compliance Monitoring Management and relevant stakeholders.

Skills and Experience needed:
- A track record in executing within a compliance monitoring framework.
- A track record in data analytics, reporting and automation, preferably within a financial services or regulatory environment.
- Experience of financial services (one or more of Insurance / Reinsurance / Employee Benefits / Investments.
- The ability to operate effectively in a matrix management structure
- To influence effectively and persuasively, across a wide range of business units with confidence.
- Negotiate with confidence.
- Ability to build appropriate internal relationships in order to aid efficient and productive working relationships between Risk and Compliance and other stakeholders or Marsh business units and functions to ensure that monitoring recommendations are agreed and acted upon.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of current compliance practices & techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Eligibility:
- Minimum 12 months experience as a Senior Specialist / DM in the same role
- Should have at least “On Track” or equivalent rating in last appraisal
- Should not be under any Performance continuity plan, or had any official disciplinary action within the last 3 months
- Should not have applied for any other IJP within Marsh in the last 3 months
