Are you a seasoned construction inspection professional who enjoys being in the field and playing a hands-on role in the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects? Do you thrive on collaborating with project teams, documenting construction progress, and helping ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project requirements?
CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Inspector – Water/Wastewater to join our Water Team in Charlotte, NC. This is a part-time, as-needed position supporting the construction of vital water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the region. In this role, you'll provide field oversight during construction, monitor contractor activities, maintain detailed project documentation, and help ensure quality standards are met every step of the way.
What You'll Do:
- Monitor construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects to ensure full compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and quality standards
- Review drawings, submittals, and construction documents; verify materials, methods, and work sequences meet requirements
- Document field observations, measurements, and computations to determine acceptability of completed work and support progress payment verification
- Identify nonconforming work, evaluate proposed corrective measures, and recommend acceptance or rejection
- Coordinate daily with owners, contractors, and local authorities; serve as the primary on‑site contact for construction‑related issues
- Prepare clear daily reports, maintain accurate project records, and support QA testing, surveys, and constructability reviews
- Lead project meetings, guide administrative documentation, and mentor entry‑level inspectors to support successful project delivery
What You Bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Management, or related technical field preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of related construction observation experience required
- Strong understanding of construction techniques, contract documents, and industry standards with the ability to interpret client contracts
- Ability to work independently on complex projects as well as collaboratively within a team; willingness to guide entry level staff
- Excellent communication skills and strong mathematics skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Valid driver’s license required; extensive travel may be required

Salary Range:
$34.00 - $40.00
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
