Commercial Data Analyst

Our client, a leading organisation within the horse racing, betting and online gaming industry, is looking for a commercially minded Data Analyst to provide end-to-end analytical support across its operations.

The successful candidate will analyse business, customer and gaming performance across areas such as wagering turnover, deposits, Gross Gaming Revenue, customer retention, campaign profitability, sportsbook and online casino activity. This is not a purely technical reporting role. It requires someone who can interpret data, identify commercial opportunities and risks, and translate findings into clear recommendations for senior decision-makers.

Direct experience within the betting, gaming, online casino or wagering industry will be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Analyse commercial and operational performance across key metrics, including:
  • Deposits and withdrawals
  • Wagering turnover
  • Gross Gaming Revenue and Net Gaming Revenue
  • Pool sizes and horse racing revenue
  • Sportsbook and online casino performance
  • Customer activity and behavioural trends
• Identify performance trends, commercial opportunities, emerging risks and areas for profitability improvement.
• Produce accurate daily, weekly and monthly business-performance reports.
• Conduct month-on-month and year-on-year variance analysis.
• Develop and maintain executive and operational dashboards.
• Analyse customer acquisition, retention and overall customer performance.
• Evaluate campaign effectiveness, acquisition efficiency and customer profitability.
• Identify behavioural patterns that could improve customer value and long-term retention.
• Translate complex datasets into clear commercial insights and practical recommendations.
• Support the integrity, accessibility and effective visualisation of business data.
• Engage commercial and operational stakeholders to understand their analytical requirements.
• Present findings and business implications to senior stakeholders.
• Provide analytical decision support to the Head of Betting, Chief Marketing Officer and other business leaders.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in data, commercial, customer or business-performance analytics.
• Experience analysing high-volume transactional or customer data.
• Strong understanding of commercial performance measures, trends and variance analysis.
• Experience developing dashboards and management reports using relevant business intelligence or data-visualisation tools.
• Ability to interrogate raw data and convert it into meaningful business insights.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Ability to communicate complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working with stakeholders across commercial, marketing and operational functions.
• Direct experience in betting, gaming, online casino, sportsbook, horse racing or wagering environments will be highly advantageous.
• Candidates from closely related transactional industries, such as fintech, digital payments, e-commerce, loyalty or subscription-based businesses, may also be considered.
