Partner with the best As an Application Engineer – Drilling and Completion Fluids, you will ensure Baker Hughes delivers flawless execution through involvement in pre-planning, job execution, and post-job analysis. In this role, you will develop and implement technical work programs and application designs that maximize operational performance while meeting customer objectives and contractual requirements. You will collaborate closely with Operations Coordinators, commercial teams, and technical stakeholders across organizational boundaries to ensure successful service delivery.
As an Application Engineer – Drilling and Completion Fluids, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring compliance with the Manage the Job Cycle (MtJC) process.
- Working with Operations and Commercial Coordinators to understand customer well construction and production objectives.
- Developing technical work programs, risk mitigation strategies, and contingency plans for drilling and completion operations.
- Performing engineering analysis, calculations, and modeling to assess application risks and optimize performance.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure all technical and operational constraints are evaluated.
- Providing technical recommendations and product application expertise to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Supporting incident investigations and identifying corrective actions to improve operational performance.
- Comparing planned versus executed work, documenting lessons learned, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Providing on-demand technical support during job execution and critical operational phases.
- Supporting bid preparation, sales activities, and customer presentations.
- Monitoring operational KPIs and preparing service delivery reports according to agreed procedures.
- Leading post-job reviews and technical analysis meetings with customers and internal teams.
- Supporting laboratory testing activities and field trials for new products and technologies.
- Training and mentoring less experienced personnel.
- Collaborating with global teams to share technical expertise and best practices.
- Traveling to customer locations and drilling sites as required.
Fuel your passion To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Hold an active CRQ or CREA registration.
- Have advanced English skills (speaking, reading, writing and comprehension).
- Demonstrate professional experience in drilling fluid analysis and field-based evaluations within oil and gas environments.
- Be able to work within a global matrix organization.
- Have knowledge of Profit & Loss requirements and technical job planning processes.
- Be available for on-call support outside normal business hours when required.
- Be willing to travel to drilling locations, customer facilities, meetings, and training events.
Desirable
- Significant operational field experience within drilling and completion fluids.
- Experience supporting high-level bids and commercial proposals.
- Experience leading customer-facing technical discussions and post-job reviews.
- Experience supporting product qualification programs and field test plans.
- Knowledge of computational modeling applications such as hydraulics and displacement calculations.
