IT Project Manager

Leidos is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead complex technology initiatives supporting a large utility environment. This role will manage projects from planning through implementation, bringing together technical teams, business partners, subject matter experts, and external vendors to keep deliverables, timelines, budgets, and dependencies on track.

 

The Project Manager will provide structure and oversight across multiple workstreams, maintain alignment with established PMO governance, and help teams navigate risks, integrations, testing, deployment, and organizational dependencies. You will help ensure successful project delivery while adhering to Leidos' Mission, Vision, and Values.

 

Location: This position is based in South Plainfield, New Jersey, and requires onsite work three days per week, Tuesday through Thursday. Qualified candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance and be able to work onsite on these days.

 

Salary: This position pays a salary in the range of $130,000 to $150,000 annually.

 

Responsibilities:

• Lead end‑to‑end project delivery for an enterprise system upgrade, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met.
• Manage technology projects from initiation through implementation and post-go-live stabilization, with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and overall delivery.
• Build and maintain project plans, schedules, RAID logs, status reporting, executive communications, and other required project documentation.
• Coordinate activities across IT, operational technology, testing, cybersecurity, business teams, subject matter experts, vendors, and external partners.
• Apply EPMO governance, methodologies, templates, controls, and reporting requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Facilitate requirements discussions, design reviews, testing readiness, implementation planning, and cutover activities.
• Proactively identify and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and changes, including those related to system integrations, vendor deliverables, regulatory timelines, and technical constraints.
• Coordinate environment readiness, data-related activities, and dependencies with parallel projects and workstreams.
• Maintain clear communication and alignment across technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and leadership.
• Support deployment readiness, including training, documentation, operational support planning, and transition to steady-state operations.

 

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management, Business Administration or a related field required, with 8+ years of project management. experience.
• PMP certification required.  
• Demonstrated experience managing enterprise technology implementations, system upgrades, migrations, integrations, or modernization initiatives.
• Strong understanding of project management disciplines, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, change control, quality, governance, and PMO reporting.
• Familiarity with IT governance, SDLC, and Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
• Experience coordinating complex technical projects involving multiple teams, systems, and workstreams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical, operational, business, and executive stakeholder groups.
• Proven stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Experience managing vendors, system integrators, and third-party delivery teams.
• Ability to identify and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and changes in a fast-paced, complex environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications and PPM/project management tools.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• IT project management experience within electric utilities, energy, critical infrastructure, or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience supporting technology transformation, regulatory-driven initiatives, or complex system integration programs.
• Experience working with highly integrated enterprise applications and technology ecosystems.
• Working knowledge of on-premises, cloud-hosted, and SaaS applications and related architectures.
• Familiarity with enterprise integration concepts, including APIs, interfaces, middleware, and system-to-system dependencies.
• Ability to interpret high-level solution architecture and technical design documentation to identify project dependencies, risks, and potential impacts.

This position requires access to information subject to U.S. Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 export control requirements. To be eligible for the required access, candidates must meet client’s Part 810 requirements, which may include being a U.S. citizen or national, a non-conditional U.S. lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), a qualifying Protected Individual, or an eligible citizen/national/permanent resident of a Generally Authorized destination. Eligibility and required documentation will be confirmed as part of the onboarding process.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00
