Status: Full-Time, Non-exempt

Salary Range: $50,000 – $68,000 (~$24 – $33/hr)

Major Purpose of the Job: The Maintenance Technician will be a well-rounded, hands-on resource supporting three Har-Tru facilities: the primary crushing and bagging plant (conveyors, motors, gear boxes, robotic arm, stretch wrapper, and sealer), the accessory facility, and the acrylics manufacturing facility. This role performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and PLC-controlled equipment to keep all three facilities running smoothly and efficiently, and requires regular travel between sites. This position also requires strong electrical and PLC programming skills and a willingness to continually learn new technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Routine Maintenance: Conducting regular inspections, testing, and maintenance on industrial equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. May involve lubricating parts, replacing worn parts, and improving output.
• Multi-Site, Multi-Process Coverage: Providing maintenance support across conveyors, motors, gear boxes, a robotic arm, a stretch wrapper, and a sealer at the crushing and bagging plant, and regularly traveling between that plant, the accessory facility, and the acrylics manufacturing facility to keep all production lines running.
• Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnosing issues with machinery or equipment when breakdowns occur. This includes identifying problems with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.
• Welding and Fabrication: Performing welding and fabrication as needed to repair, modify, and maintain machinery, equipment, and related components. This may include cutting, fitting, welding, and fabricating metal parts to support equipment repairs, modifications, and production needs.
• Equipment Installation and Setup: Assisting with the installation, setup, or relocation of new machinery, calibrating, and ensuring it meets operational standards.
• Preventative Maintenance: Implementing preventative maintenance schedules to reduce equipment downtime.
• Safety Compliance: Following safety procedures and regulations to minimize risk. This includes following OSHA standards, using PPE, and implementing additional safety steps when risk is identified.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to trend for long-term needs.
• Electrical and PLC Programming: Programming, troubleshooting, and modifying PLC-controlled equipment, including the robotic arm, conveyor systems, stretch wrapper, and sealer, to support production changes, process improvements, and equipment upgrades.

Working Conditions:

• Typically located in a shop with no air conditioning or heat.
• The environment is dusty.
• Frequent outside work, with exposure to the elements.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements:

• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and fix machinery issues effectively.
• Physical Stamina: Capacity for physical tasks like lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods of time.
• Attention to Detail: Precise documentation and awareness of safety.
• Blueprint reading, basic plumbing, electrical systems, mechanical drawing, shop mathematics, and welding.

Education and Training Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate's degree in Industrial Maintenance or Technical Trade School Certificate.
• 2 to 3 years' experience in Industrial Maintenance.

Physical Requirements:

• Standing (70%), walking (15%), kneeling (10%), and sitting (5%).
• Extensive hearing, seeing, grasping, pushing, and bending. Moderate reading, reaching, pulling, balancing, stooping, and manual dexterity. Limited talking, climbing, and twisting.
• Extensive lifting of up to 50 lbs. Moderate lifting of more than 51 lbs.
