Architectural Engineer

Job Description Summary:

The Architectural Engineer is responsible for the review, coordination, and supervision of all architectural aspects of AAR's construction projects, ensuring compliance with project requirements, design intent, quality standards, operational needs, and applicable regulations.

Acting on behalf of the Owner, the Architectural Engineer provides technical oversight throughout the design, procurement, construction, testing, and handover phases, ensuring that architectural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, project objectives, and contractual requirements.

The role is site-based and works closely with GPP (Aviagen's design and construction supervision consultant), project managers, contractors, suppliers, and site supervision teams to supervise, coordinate, inspect, approve, and resolve technical issues, monitor progress, manage interfaces between disciplines, and support successful project delivery.

Design & Technical Review

• Review architectural designs, construction drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, technical specifications, and method statements.

• Review and approve architectural material selections, finishes, façade systems, waterproofing systems, doors, windows, ceilings, partitions, and specialized building components.

• Provide technical recommendations to improve functionality, constructability, maintainability, operational efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

• Support design reviews and multidisciplinary BIM coordination.

Site Supervision & Construction Monitoring

• Review and supervise architectural works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, project requirements, and applicable codes and standards.

• Monitor construction activities to ensure proper implementation of architectural designs and finishes.

• Coordinate closely with civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers to ensure proper integration of all building systems.

Inspection, Testing & Quality Control

• Track, review, and approve the full inspection cycle: vendor, subcontractor, material, and testing-laboratory approval; verification of materials on delivery; stage-by-stage inspection and acceptance of works; testing, commissioning, operational readiness, and final handover; and support for quantity verification, progress measurement, and payment certification.

• Participate in inspections, snagging activities, punch list reviews, and final handover processes.

• Ensure compliance with quality control requirements related to architectural works.

Coordination & Procurement Support

• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and site teams on all architectural matters.

• Support procurement activities through technical review of architectural materials, systems, and suppliers.

Reporting & Risk Management

• Monitor project progress related to architectural activities and identify risks, delays, or technical issues requiring corrective action.

• Prepare technical reports, site observations, progress reviews, and recommendations for project management and clients.

HSE Compliance

Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and site regulations.
