Description
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates year-round sports activities for youth and adults, special athletic events, clinics and other leisure programs.
- Provides instruction and leads activities as necessary.
- Selects, plans, and implements cultural arts, physical activities and special interest activities.
- Provides supervision of classes, workshops, and activities for participants in City recreation programs and co-sponsored programs.
- Responds to public inquiries regarding recreation programs through various communication channels including telephone, email, or social media.
- Aids in seeking sponsorships for programs, leagues, and special events.
- Promotes interest and provides information regarding recreation programs to school officials, other recreation officials, community service groups, other City departments, and the public.
- Assists with set-up and tear down of events or activities, including moving chairs, tables, bleachers and other equipment, inside or outside Junction City Parks and Recreation facilities.
- Completes other tasks or projects as assigned by department or City leadership.
- Associates degree in Recreation or Sports Management or a closely related field.
- One (1) year of experience with recreation programs, including community center programming.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered as meeting the minimum requirements of the position.
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or Sports Management or a closely related field.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- First Aid and CPR Certification, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Ability to communicate using the English language.
- Knowledge of various activities and implementation in a community center setting.
- Ability to promote programs and gain community interest.
- Ability to communicate using the English language.
- Proficient computer data entry skills, including the use of Civic Rec, Microsoft Office, and any other software utilized by the department.
- Vision requirements include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

- This position operates in a variety of environments including indoor and outdoor and requires the ability to move between different locations.

- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to forty (40) pounds occasionally.
