Engineer I/II – Product Development, Advanced Technology
Location: Pune, India
If you are a product development engineering professional seeking an opportunity to grow, Copeland in Pune, India has an exciting opportunity for you. We are looking for a motivated Engineer II – Product Development, Advanced Technology to support advanced technology and new product development programs. In this role, you will contribute to design engineering, simulation-driven development, and project engineering activities for next-generation HVAC/R and compressor technologies. You will work closely with global engineering teams to develop design concepts, perform analysis, support prototype validation, and help mature technologies from concept through product development.
As an Engineer – Product Development, You Will:
- Support advanced technology and NPD projects, including concept development, design execution, prototype support, and technical documentation.
- Develop 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using CAD tools such as NX, Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Perform engineering calculations and design analysis to support component and system-level development.
- Conduct FEA simulations for structural analysis
- Conduct GT multi-physics simulations for performance and design optimization.
- Correlate simulation results with test data and support design improvements.
- Support project engineering activities including schedule tracking, action item follow-up, risk identification, and milestone reporting.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Project Engineering, Reliability, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement, and global design teams.
- Participate in design reviews, technical risk reviews, TRL reviews, and product development gate reviews.
- Support continuous improvement, engineering standardization, and next-generation design technology development.
Required Education, Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 1 ~3+ years of experience in design engineering, product development, simulation, or related engineering roles.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as NX, Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Experience with FEA tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran, HyperWorks, or equivalent.
- Ability to upskill with multidisciplinary skills
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations, analyze test/simulation data, and support technical problem solving.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with global teams.
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience in HVAC/R, compressors, rotating machinery, automotive, or industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems, thermodynamics, and compressor performance.
- Experience with Python, CFD, GT Suite or other tools for engineering analysis and automation.
- Familiarity with PLM systems such as Teamcenter.
- Exposure to stage-gate product development, TRL-based technology maturation, or project engineering processes.
- Experience supporting prototype testing, validation planning, and test-to-simulation correlation.
