Senior Network Engineer / System Administrator

Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer / System Administrator supporting the 782nd Test Squadron on TMASIII at Eglin AFB, FL.

 

As the System Administrator, you will serve as the principal technical authority for information systems operations, cybersecurity, and information assurance within classified, mission‑critical environments. You will lead implementation of security controls, oversee compliance activities, direct vulnerability management efforts, and support the evolution of automation hardware and software infrastructure.

 

This is a full‑time position located at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to: 

• Serve as the principal technical authority for information systems operations, cybersecurity, and information assurance.
• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of security controls for real‑time, standalone, and networked systems in classified environments.
• Direct vulnerability management, incident response, and risk mitigation strategies for complex, multispectral test facilities.
• Evaluate, select, and integrate emerging technologies to support mission capability advancement.
• Architect and manage robust configuration management and change control processes to ensure traceability and system integrity.
• Oversee Certification & Accreditation, audit, and compliance programs using DISA STIGs, SCAP Compliance Checker (SCC), STIG Viewer, HBSS, and ACAS tools.
• Mentor and develop engineering and IT teams, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
• Develop and implement strategies supporting the growth of automation hardware and software infrastructure.
• Support classified, mission‑critical operational environments across DoD test activities.

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance

Education: Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field preferred; extensive experience may substitute with government approval.

Certifications: DoD 8140 compliance; Security+ mandatory

• Recognized industry leader with a proven track record in system administration, cybersecurity, and information assurance.
• Extensive experience supporting classified, mission-critical environments within the DoD or equivalent organizations.
• High-level technical expertise in Windows, RHEL, networking, scripting, and enterprise system administration.

Preferred Qualifications

Years of experience: 10 + years of relevant technical experience

Certifications: CISSP, CASP, or equivalent certifications highly preferred

 

Technical Skills

• Mastery of DISA STIGs, SCC, STIG Viewer, Host-Based Security System (HBSS), and Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
• Extensive experience in classified, mission‑critical DoD or equivalent environments.
• Advanced proficiency with:
  • Microsoft Windows OS
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS
  •  Windows Domains & Group Policies
  • PowerShell & Python scripting
  • DNS, DHCP, TCP/UDP
  • Layer 2/3 networking
• Ability to lead design and implementation of system security controls.
• Skill in evaluating and integrating emerging technologies for mission-focused environments.
• Experience with Certification & Accreditation processes, audits, and compliance.

Interpersonal Skills

• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire multidisciplinary engineering and IT teams.
• Outstanding communication, customer interaction, and presentation skills.
• Ability to interface effectively with diverse individuals across technical and operational environments.
• Comfortable operating independently within highly dynamic, fast-paced environments.
