The Opportunity
In this role as a Software Engineer at Hitachi Energy you will be a part of a Global HVDC Control & Protection Software team. Our team is responsible for System supervision, we have interfaces towards other domains within Control & Protection, IT/OT, Hardware and Operations.
Our team is responsible for supplying System Supervision & Communication for HVDC projects across the globe including software design, development, integration, testing and verification in real-time and virtual environments, and maintaining software functionalities that ensure system supervision, communication, and system monitoring within the HVDC control system, based on the MACH (Modular Advanced Control System for HVDC & GPQSS) platform.
We deliver System Supervision & Communication solutions for HVDC projects worldwide, covering the full software lifecycle — from Detailed Conceptual Design and development to integration, testing, and verification — in both real-time and virtual environments.
How you’ll make an impact
- You will be part of all phases of delivery, which include design, maintenance, testing, integration, verification, and deployment of the software functions needed for safe and reliable operations of plants and transmission links.

Your background
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree within a relevant field, such as Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, High Voltage, Software Engineering, and Computer Engineering.
- Experience in working with DevOps tools like Azure DevOps
- Knowledge and experience working with customer requirements, design reviews and testing activities and working with Greenlining
- Knowledge with EtherCAT and other industrial protocols
- You have experience in software development and programming, preferably within the electric power industry.
- You have an interest or experience in digital control technology, signal processing, and filtering.
- You are a genuine team player where collaboration and interaction with others is a vital part of your work.
- You have work proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Additional languages, such as Swedish are an advantage.
