Our Transformation Journey

The organisation is currently undergoing a significant transformation as a core pillar of the Hiscox 2030 strategy, designed to make the organisation scalable, efficient, and increasingly customer-centric by modernising operations and embedding a “One Hiscox” mindset. It underpins the broader growth ambitions and is delivered through multiple strategic initiatives.

The Technology Transformation enables 70% of these initiatives and contributes over half of the programme’s projected benefits. Led by the Technology Transformation Office, it enables digital trading, augmented underwriting, unified data ecosystems, and automation—unlocking speed, intelligence, and cost savings while reshaping how Hiscox works and grows.

Role Purpose

As a Senior/Lead UX Researcher, you will lead research direction across multiple domains, ensuring product, service, and transformation decisions are grounded in clear, high‑quality evidence across customer, broker, and employee journeys.

You will combine hands‑on research delivery with strategic influence, shaping what research happens, when, and why. You will raise research maturity across the organisation and embed insight‑led decision‑making into day‑to‑day delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Research Strategy & Prioritisation

• Define and lead research strategy aligned to transformation, product, and business priorities.
• Shape problem framing and research questions to ensure teams focus on the highest‑value problems.
• Guide teams on when research is required and how best to apply it.

Research Delivery & Insight

• Lead complex qualitative and quantitative research across end‑to‑end journeys.
• Synthesise findings into clear, actionable insights that inform prioritisation and solution direction.
• Facilitate insight playback and alignment sessions with senior stakeholders.

Practice Maturity & Capability

• Establish and evolve shared research standards, tools, and repositories.
• Champion inclusive, ethical, and accessible research practices.
• Mentor UX designers, raising research capability across teams.

Skills & Experience

• Significant experience leading UX research across complex products, services, or platforms.
• Strong qualitative research expertise, with applied quantitative methods where appropriate.
• Proven ability to translate research into insights that influence decisions.
• Excellent facilitation, storytelling, and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience working in regulated environments and supporting large‑scale transformation is advantageous.
