The Delivery Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the delivery department to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective distribution of products to customers. This role provides direct leadership to CDL and Non CDL delivery drivers and while ensuring compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and customer service standards. The supervisor drives operational performance through coaching, route optimization, safety leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Duties:
Lead and supervise a team of CDL and Non CDL delivery drivers
Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, ELD, and Hours of Service regulations.
Conduct driver coaching, ride-alongs, performance reviews, and corrective action plans.
Analyze routing efficiency and identify opportunities to reduce miles, labor, and transportation costs.
Oversee the external maintenance providers of the company-owned delivery fleet to ensure vehicles are safe, compliant, and available to meet operational demands.
Manage labor scheduling, overtime, and staffing levels to meet operational demands.
Ensure vehicle inspections, equipment utilization, and maintenance issues are addressed.
Investigate accidents, injuries, and customer service incidents while implementing corrective actions
Lead pre-shift meetings emphasizing safety, customer service, and operational priorities.
Review transportation KPIs including:
On-time delivery
PM Compliance
Delivery accuracy
DVIR Compliance
DOT compliance
Accident frequency
Driver productivity
Cost per stop
Cases per mile
Route efficiency
Leadership Responsibilities
Recruit, train, onboard, and develop the delivery team.
Build a culture focused on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Coach employees to achieve individual and team performance goals.
Foster collaboration across office, operations, warehouse, and sales teams.
Recognize employee achievements while addressing performance issues promptly.
Qualifications
5+ Years of transportation experience
CDL License preferred
Experience managing a company-owned commercial fleet, including preventive maintenance programs, vehicle repairs, regulatory compliance, and asset utilization.
Working knowledge of fleet maintenance best practices, commercial vehicle systems, and DOT inspection and maintenance requirements.
Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to analyze operational and financial performance data
Proficient with Microsoft Office
