The Information Technology Services Office (ITSO) is seeking a Programmer to join its application systems team. The appointee will support the development, enhancement, maintenance, and operation of enterprise applications and digital services used across the University.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support, maintenance, and bug fixes for internal systems and applications.
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise-level applications, including the University e-Form platform.
- Assist in developing, optimizing, and enhancing applications across different technologies and platforms.
- Troubleshoot system issues, collaborate with team members, provide end-user support, and resolve technical challenges.
- Prepare and update technical documentation, such as technical specifications, test cases, UAT plans, API documents, and system changelogs.
Technical Requirements:
- Development Skills: Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with programming languages like Java, VB.NET, or C#. Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and RESTful APIs.
- Data Handling: Proficiency in SQL and database development using Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server. Familiarity with data parsing (JSON, XML, CSV).
- Tools and Frameworks: Experience with Git, Maven, Linux command line, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and unit testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit).
- Workflow Systems: Understanding of workflow management systems, e-Form platforms, or web-based enterprise applications.
- AI Tools: Familiarity with AI-assisted programming tools and best practices.
Qualifications & Soft Skills:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Relevant hands-on experience, such as through internships, FYPs, or prior roles in IT support or application development, is an advantage. Practical experience in developing and maintaining enterprise applications or workflow systems is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation abilities, including writing technical specifications, test plans, and changelogs.
- A proactive and fast learner with a strong ability to adapt to new technologies and workflows.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with teams, end-users, and management.
Note
Candidates are not expected to meet all listed requirements but should demonstrate expertise in one or more key areas of application development, support, or workflow systems.
(Duration: 1 - 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of a 2-year contract.
