1. Commercial Product Engineer (CPE):
Location: Cheonan, South Korea
Organization: Development Engineering (DE)
Reports to: Cheonan Development Engineering Leader (Jae Bum, Lee)
2. Position Summary:
The Commercial Product Engineer (CPE) serves as a technical liaison supporting commercialized products through cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement activities. The role works closely with Development Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Analytical, Supply Chain, Procurement, Marketing, Sales, and other global organizations to support product quality, supply continuity, manufacturing robustness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The CPE actively supports cross-functional activities related to Process Change Notifications (PCNs), Continuous Improvement Programs (CIPs), Root Cause Investigations (RCIs), technology transfers, and manufacturing improvement initiatives. Through effective collaboration and coordination, the position supports execution of cross-functional initiatives, promotes stakeholder alignment, and helps create synergy across organizations.
3. Key Roles & Responsibilities:
3-1. PCN Support and Coordination:
Support technical assessments associated with product, process, raw material, supplier, packaging, and equipment changes.
Coordinate qualification activities among cross-functional teams.
Assist in ensuring timely completion of required documentation and stakeholder communication.
3-2. Manufacturing Support and Problem-Solving:
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Analytical teams to investigate product and process issues.
Facilitate data collection, technical evaluations, and root cause investigations.
Support implementation and tracking of corrective and preventive actions.
3-3. Continuous Improvement:
Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and Development Engineering teams to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
Help facilitate alignment among stakeholders regarding product performance, quality, supply, and cost objectives.
Support initiatives focused on cost reduction, yield improvement, process robustness, capacity enhancement, cycle-time reduction, and quality improvement.
Coordinate agreed cross-functional actions to support effective project execution.
3-4. Technology Transfer Support:
Collaborate with Development Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support technology transfer and commercialization activities.
Assist in establishing manufacturing readiness criteria and effective transition plans.
Support qualification activities associated with manufacturing site transfers and supplier qualification activities.
3-5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Promote effective communication and alignment among stakeholders to maximize business outcomes and organizational synergy.
Build strong partnerships with Development Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Analytical, Supply Chain, Procurement, Marketing, Sales, and other global technical organizations.
4. Required Qualifications:
4-1. Master's degree in one of the following disciplines:
Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science / Materials Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, Industrial Engineering.
4-2. Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical role within:
• Electronic Materials and Semiconductor Manufacturing.
• Specialty Chemicals.
• Advanced Manufacturing Industries.
4-3. Technical Competencies:
• Experience supporting manufacturing processes, product quality improvement, or process optimization activities.
• Knowledge of quality systems, change management, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience working within cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in both Korean and English.
5. Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred technical background in one or more of the following areas:
• Semiconductor plating technologies.
• Semiconductor Materials and Processes.
• Synthetic Chemistry.
• Analytical Chemistry.
• Process Engineering.
6. Strategic Value:
The role helps strengthen coordination between Development Engineering and cross-functional organizations while supporting commercial product-related activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
