Description
Position Summary:
The network junior engineer will be primarily responsible for providing 7x24x365 network operational support in 8-hour shifts for our Panera Bread cafes, support centers, and labs. The candidate for these positions will have a work schedule that surrounds our US Central Time hours, flexible to assist coverage with other shifts as needed to ensure project completion, and\or assistance when necessary. Weekends are normally off, but there can\could be rotational support in place when required.
Location: St. Louis, MO (hybrid)
Accountability
- Act as L2 escalation point for issues raised by L1 engineers
- Perform advanced troubleshooting for LAN, WAN, Wi Fi, VPN, Meraki and SDWAN issues
- Support and troubleshoot Cisco routers/switches, Meraki APs, switches, firewalls
- Handle SD WAN and Cradle point router connectivity issues
- Support ISP circuits, including Comcast retail / café / store environments
- Coordinate with ISPs for outages, latency, packet loss, and circuit restoration
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring or complex issues
- Implement approved network changes and upgrades
- Document incidents, resolutions, and procedures clearly in ticketing tools (ServiceNow)
- Enhance and assist in upkeep of current knowledge (Knowledge Base) and standard operation procedures “SOP’s”
- Communicate incident status effectively to stakeholders
- Guide and mentor L1 engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently
- Review L1 escalations for quality, completeness, and SOP adherence
- Collaborate with other teams surrounding projects and deployment activities.
- Work on best practices, what is best for cafes and interactions.

Qualifications & Experience Requested:
- Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in a network position or technical support
- Great verbal communication as they will be speaking with people for engagement, assistance to various endeavors.
- Skillset and Hands‑on experience with Cisco and Meraki environments.
- Strong skillset in documentation, as these steps may further lead to updating information, knowledge, etc. to our Tier 1 team.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs
- Able to think outside the box & contribute innovative solutions to complex issues
- Ability to work independently during both business and non-business hours while rapidly learning and adapting to new processes and policies.
- Experience supporting SD WAN, Meraki and Cradlepoint\LTE 5G\4G devices
- Involvement with concepts that deal with the complexity and urgency of a retail\food network architecture and connectivity.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and dashboards, ie Solarwinds, etc.
- Capabilities to assist with automation for increased efficiency, monitoring and triaging of activities.
- Must be able to multitask effectively to complete checklist items along with monitoring, proactive checking for issues & troubleshooting production network problems.
