Role summary:Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and ensuring technical excellence through design reviews and mentorship. The successful candidate will collaborate across teams to translate complex requirements into actionable solutions, promote engineering best practices, and continuously improve processes. About the team:
Walmart International’s Last Mile Delivery team manages the critical final segment of the supply chain across Canada, Mexico, Chile, and other regions. The team develops scalable, resilient software solutions that directly impact the delivery of real packages to customers’ doorsteps. Engineers collaborate to design, build, and maintain cloud-native platforms, applying best practices in API design, DevOps, and software prototyping. The team values data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement to optimize performance at scale, ensuring timely and efficient delivery while supporting innovation and operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
What you'll do:
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
- Lead full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
- Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using multiple programming languages.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote standardization and sustainability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics.
- Drive continuous improvement through code quality reviews, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and platform design and development.
- Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
- Ability to conduct thorough design reviews and apply problem-solving skills to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Familiarity with AI/ML integration and software prototyping to support innovative product development.
- Demonstrated capability in data-driven decision making and requirements analysis.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills across technical and business teams.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
