About the team

As part of our Pricing team embedded within the Crisis Management division, you will work on some of the most intriguing and high-impact risks in the insurance world. You will partner with underwriters across Terrorism, Kidnap & Ransom, Credit & Political Risk, Personal Accident and Fine Art. These are not everyday risks; they are complex, dynamic and often headline-making.

The Crisis Management division is global, with teams based across London, Guernsey and the US. Across the division, we manage around $350m of Gross Written Premium, with ambitions to grow to $500m by 2030. Our distribution is as diverse as our risks: we write business through external brokers and multiple Hiscox-owned channels, including a Lloyd's syndicate, company platform, MGA, broker and sales agency. This variety gives us flexibility and reach across markets worldwide.

The Pricing team is at the core of the Crisis Management division. We combine technical expertise with commercial insight to deliver pricing solutions that support profitable growth and help shape the future of the division.

The role

We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded pricing professional who can combine strong technical capability with the confidence to influence business decisions. You will work with a high degree of autonomy, taking ownership of complex analytical projects, partnering closely with underwriters and stakeholders across the business, and supporting the development of junior colleagues.

What you’ll be doing as a Senior Pricing Analyst in the Crisis Management team:

• Taking ownership of pricing models across multiple classes of business, ensuring they remain robust, fit for purpose and aligned with Lloyd's and industry best practice.
• Leading pricing assessments for complex new business opportunities, renewals and portfolio initiatives, providing clear recommendations to underwriting teams.
• Delivering portfolio performance analysis and actionable insights to support underwriting strategy, portfolio management and business planning.
• Developing and enhancing pricing methodologies, tools and analytical capabilities to improve decision-making and pricing sophistication.
• Leading defined workstreams within strategic pricing projects, including model development and process improvement initiatives.
• Working closely with Underwriting, Finance, Reserving, Exposure Management and Reinsurance to understand performance drivers and inform business decisions.
• Presenting complex analysis and recommendations clearly and confidently to senior stakeholders.
• Coaching and supporting junior analysts, sharing technical knowledge and promoting best practice across the team.
• Identifying opportunities to use new technologies, external data sources and advanced analytical techniques to create commercial value.

Our must-haves:

• Relevant experience in insurance pricing, actuarial, underwriting or a related analytical role. 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently on complex or ambiguous challenges. 
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influence decision-making. 
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large or complex datasets. 
• Experience applying statistical or analytical techniques to support commercial decisions. 
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance technical considerations with business objectives. 
• Educated to degree level with a numerate emphasis, or equivalent relevant experience. 
• Fluent written and spoken business English

 Our nice-to-haves:

• Proficiency in analytical programming languages, such as Python, R, SQL or VBA.
• Experience with Tableau/Snowflake/Dataiku.
• Progress towards actuarial qualifications or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience developing pricing models or portfolio management tools.
• London Market and/or Lloyd's experience.
