About the Role
The Manager, External Communications – Creative Content and Reputation will help shape and amplify H&R Block’s external voice through strategic storytelling, brand reputation initiatives, and integrated communications across media, social, and owned channels. - Lead external communications strategies that build brand awareness and protect company reputation
- Develop and execute PR, media relations, and enterprise storytelling initiatives
- Create engaging content across social, digital, video, and earned media channels
- Produce video content from concept and storyboarding through filming, editing, and post-production
- Design platform-specific creative assets including graphics, motion content, and short-form video
- Ensure all content and campaigns align with brand standards and messaging guidelines
- Partner cross-functionally to deliver integrated communications across owned, earned, and social channels
- Monitor brand reputation, identify risks, and support crisis communications when needed
- Analyze content and campaign performance to optimize reach, engagement, and effectiveness
- Manage external agencies, media partners, and other communications-related vendors and projects
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field
- Strong video production capabilities, including filming, editing, and post-production using tools like Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar
- Advanced graphic design skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and the ability to create content independently
- Demonstrated success creating engaging content across social, digital, and multimedia channels, supported by a strong portfolio
- Experience in media relations, storytelling, and executing integrated communications campaigns
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences
- Highly organized and collaborative, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and influence cross-functional stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting consumer brands or financial services organizations
- Background working with PR or creative agencies
- Experience leveraging performance data or social insights to refine communications strategy
- Familiarity with reputation monitoring or social listening tools
