Description
The Integration & Automation Architect is responsible for designing and supporting the implementation of the integration fabric and automation layer of the MyCDW platform — the connective tissue that links CDW Managed Services’ unified ServiceNow environment with operational systems such as TAPR, SMTAP, and Platform Management, and the AI-driven automation that allows Managed Services to scale operations without scaling team size. This role ensures that integration and automation architecture aligns with the organization’s business strategy and goals, and establishes the governance, monitoring, and instrumentation required for safe, observable, and increasingly agentic operations.
What you will do
- Own the end-to-end integration architecture of the MyCDW platform: design, prioritize, and oversee delivery of the ServiceNow ↔ TAPR / SMTAP / Platform Management integrations captured in the Integration & Automation Register.
- Define integration patterns, API and event-driven standards, middleware/iPaaS approach, and data-exchange contracts that are scalable, reliable, and secure.
- Establish and enforce the Managed Services ServiceNow Customer and Partner Integrations Policy and related governance for all data in motion.
- Architect the agentic harness — the governance, guardrails, monitoring, and instrumentation that allow AI agents to operate safely across the platform and connected systems — so the team can scale delivery without scaling headcount.
- Implement AI-based and rule-based automation, predictive analytics, and automated workflows using industry-standard tools and frameworks to reduce manual effort.
- Design integrations and automations with a focus on performance, resilience, and observability so they handle increased workloads and are optimized for speed and resource efficiency.
- Ensure integration and automation solutions meet security and compliance requirements, including PCI DSS and SOC 2, in partnership with the Identity & Access Management Architect.
- Evaluate integration, automation, and agentic/AI platforms and frameworks to determine their suitability, including benchmarking and conducting proof-of-concept projects.
- Create prototypes to ensure the strategic vision translates into reality, and fail fast when approaches do not hold.
- Partner with the Principal Applications Architect to ensure integration and automation designs align to the platform’s target-state architecture.
- Establish and enforce integration coding standards, reusable patterns, and architectural guidelines for engineering teams to ensure consistency and maintainability.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with development, engineering, security, and product stakeholders to ensure the integration and automation vision is understood and implemented.
- Create and maintain documentation, including the integration register, automation runbooks, architecture diagrams, design decisions, and technical specifications.
- Resolve complex integration and automation issues and challenges that arise during development and deployment, providing guidance and solutions.
- Balance technical requirements with budget constraints to make cost-effective decisions in technology selection and design.
- Interact with integration, automation, and AI technology vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships to ensure the organization gets the best value.
- Anticipate and keep up with emerging automation and agentic-AI trends to recommend innovative solutions that give the organization a competitive edge.
- Ensure quality by establishing quality assurance processes, testing procedures, and monitoring tools for integrations and automated workflows.
What we expect of you
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 10 years’ experience in IT, including software/integration development and systems architecture, OR 14 years’ experience in IT, integration development, and systems architecture.
- Deep, hands-on expertise designing enterprise integration architectures — REST/SOAP APIs, event-driven and message-based patterns, iPaaS/middleware, ETL, and webhook/streaming integrations — ideally centered on ServiceNow.
- Strong knowledge of automation tools and frameworks, with experience deploying automated workflows and orchestration at scale.
- Expertise in Artificial Intelligence principles and applications, including designing AI-driven, machine-learning, and agentic automation solutions, and the governance, monitoring, and instrumentation needed to operate them safely.
- Passionate about technology with deep knowledge of the technologies, platforms, and frameworks relevant to integrating globally scaled managed-services platforms.
- Ability to develop and implement integration and automation strategies that support organizational objectives.
- Experience leading teams, collaborating with stakeholders across departments, and influencing decision-making at a strategic level.
- Demonstrated ability to drive digital transformation initiatives, foster innovation, and manage change effectively.
- Understanding of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements, particularly PCI DSS and SOC 2 as they apply to data in motion.
- A strong presenter and communicator who will engage and present to customers and sales teams, getting them excited about our vision and capabilities.
- Extensive and demonstrated understanding of software development methodologies and architectural patterns.
- Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of network architecture, security principles, and infrastructure management.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically, anticipating future trends and translating insights into actionable plans that align with enterprise-wide goals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including collaboration, leadership, influencing, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven track record designing and implementing large-scale, complex integrations and automation solutions.
- Extensive experience in multiple IT domains, such as applications, data, infrastructure, security, and cloud services.
- ServiceNow Integration Hub, MID Server, or iPaaS (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi) and agent/automation framework experience, a plus.
- Master’s degree, a plus.
Pay range: $156,400 - $218,920 depending on experience and skill set
