Associate Director, Regional Marketing Hematology
Location: U.S Field Based - Great Lakes
Join AstraZeneca to lead regional oncology marketing. You will engage national and regional external scientific experts (ESEs), turn customer insights into brand strategy and deliver regional initiatives aligned with the Brand Strategic Plan.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Develop and implement regional marketing plans aligned with the Brand Strategic Plan and local market opportunities.
- Build relationships with 35–50 national and regional ESEs through live and virtual engagement, scientific discussions and congress activities.
- Generate actionable insights through expert discussions, consultancies and advisory boards, and share findings with Brand and Medical colleagues.
- Partner with field sales leaders and Brand teams to develop local campaigns and peer engagement initiatives for healthcare professionals.
- Lead advisory boards and regional projects with agency and vendor partners, taking promotional assets through Medical, Legal and Regulatory (MLR) review.
- Manage program budgets, timelines and compliance, and develop an annual operational plan aligned with brand priorities.

- Strengthen engagement with national and regional experts to support brand, disease, testing and treatment objectives.
- Use local insights to shape marketing programs for accounts and organized customers, address barriers to product use and support appropriate adoption.
- Provide a non-sales perspective that helps Brand and field leaders understand expert views and respond to regional opportunities.
Essential skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, including pharmaceutical marketing experience.
- Strong oncology business acumen, including care delivery, payers, group purchasing organizations, precision medicine and organized oncology customers.
- Advanced interpersonal and scientific communication skills to engage experts, ask challenging questions and develop brand advocacy.
- Ability to identify regional marketing opportunities and manage complex projects with agency or vendor partners.
- Demonstrated cross-functional leadership with Sales, Medical Affairs and Brand Marketing, with the ability to translate insights into strategic decisions.
- Experience with MLR review, operational planning and budget management.
- Willingness to undertake more than 50% overnight travel, including evening and weekend conferences when necessary.
Desirable skills and experience
- 10+ years of pharmaceutical or healthcare experience and an MBA.
- 2+ years of oncology experience, with relevant tumor-type and customer-facing experience.
- In-line brand or healthcare professional (HCP) agency marketing experience, including work with third-party vendors or agency partners.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $194,000 to $291,000. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
