None/Not RequiredCollins Aerospace is seeking a Quality Engineer II to support product and process quality engineering across our aerospace and defense operations. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, resolve complex quality issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You will apply quality engineering principles, analytical tools, and problem-solving methodologies to improve processes, ensure compliance, and support customer requirements.
Your mission: to ensure the quality and reliability of our products by identifying and resolving quality issues, implementing effective corrective actions, and driving proactive improvements across our operations.
This onsite position is based at our Santa Isabel, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.
What You Will Do
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems, plans, and protocols to ensure product and process conformance.
- Perform root cause analysis, escape management, and corrective action activities to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.
- Support both Program and Product Quality Engineering activities, collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams.
- Lead investigations into product and process issues and provide daily support for real-time problem resolution and RTPR activities.
- Develop and implement proactive quality initiatives and recommend process or engineering changes to address internal and customer-driven quality concerns.
- Support the development and implementation of inspection technologies, testing methods, and other approaches to improve product reliability and conformance.
- Utilize DAISE/CORE tools and quality methodologies to identify improvement opportunities and coach others in their application.
- Prepare and present quality performance metrics, executive summaries, and reports for management reviews, CAB, interplant meetings, Get to Green, and other business forums.
- Conduct Layered Process Audits and support internal, customer, regulatory, and other audit activities as required.
- Review quality procedures, metrics, and processes to identify opportunities for improved compliance, product quality, and operational performance.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
- Effective communication and presentation skills in English and Spanish, both verbal and written.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, or a related quality-focused role, preferably within the aerospace industry.
- Working knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, including PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, root cause analysis, corrective action, and statistical quality tools.
- Experience with DAISE/CORE, Lean Six Sigma, advanced quality tools, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with FAA requirements, conformity processes, quality audits, or other regulated manufacturing requirements.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Lean Six Sigma certification, or other quality-related certification.
- Knowledge of IPC electronic assembly standards and/or experience supporting electronic manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, diagrams, specifications, and technical instructions.
- Experience preparing and presenting quality metrics, executive summaries, and technical information to leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
