The Supervisor, Environmental Services (EVS) oversees the daily operations of the EVS department under the direction of the Manager/Director. The role is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and compliant healthcare environment while leading staff, maintaining quality standards, supporting infection prevention efforts, and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership- Plan, organize, schedule, and supervise EVS operations on assigned shifts.
- Lead, coach, train, and develop team members.
- Conduct interviews, performance evaluations, competencies, and corrective actions.
- Hold staff huddles and team meetings.
- Work alongside EVS Technicians when needed.
- Support departmental and organizational goals.
- Monitor and inspect cleaning quality and staff productivity.
- Ensure compliance with Wellstar standards, regulatory requirements, OSHA guidelines, and infection prevention protocols.
- Provide ongoing coaching and competency training.
- Participate in performance improvement (PI) initiatives.
- Promote and model excellent customer service using AIDET principles.
- Support patient, family, and internal customer satisfaction.
- Perform service recovery when necessary.
- Demonstrate behaviors aligned with the Wellstar Experience.
- Ensure proper use and care of supplies and equipment.
- Monitor waste handling and disposal procedures.
- Maintain efficient inventory and supply practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Education- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in a related field preferred.
- At least 1 year of leadership experience (Lead or Coordinator) in housekeeping/environmental services within healthcare, hospitality, or Class A commercial facilities. OR
- 2 years of staff-level EVS/housekeeping experience in healthcare, hospitality, or Class A commercial settings.
- CHEST (Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician).
Required Skills
- Leadership, coaching, and team supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Knowledge of regulatory, OSHA, and safety compliance requirements.
- Experience with cleaning equipment, floor care, and clinical environment cleaning.
- Customer service and service-recovery skills.
- Inventory and supply management.
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel proficiency.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and material safety compliance.
