Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is an entry-level, hands-on position responsible for assisting maintenance personnel with the daily maintenance, cleaning, inspection, and basic repair of equipment and machinery throughout the facility. Under the direction of experienced maintenance personnel, the Maintenance Technician will assist with preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities to help keep equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist maintenance personnel with the inspection, cleaning, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of yard equipment and machinery.
- Assist with preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on all yard equipment.
- Assist with routine inspections to identify equipment wear, damage, leaks, unusual noises, vibration, or other potential mechanical issues.
- Lubricate equipment and perform basic servicing according to established maintenance schedules.
- Assist with replacing and repairing belts, bearings, rollers, hoses, hydraulic components, guards, screens, and other wear components.
- Assist with maintenance and repairs on mobile heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, material handlers, and other yard equipment, as directed.
- Assist with cleaning equipment and work areas to support safe and efficient maintenance operations.
- Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and other maintenance tools safely and properly.
- Learn and assist with welding, torch cutting, fabrication, and metal repair as skills develop.
- Learn and assist with basic hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting under supervision.
- Maintain tools, equipment, parts, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
- Assist with maintaining proper housekeeping around maintenance areas and throughout the yard.
- Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and a strong desire to learn a skilled trade.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to safely use basic hand tools or willingness to learn.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Willingness to work in an outdoor industrial environment.
Work Hours:
Monday through Friday, 40+ hour work week, Saturdays, and overtime will be required to business needs. Schedule is subject to change to facilitate business and production needs.
