Description
Student Assistant, Data & Analytics at Svitzer Head Office
Are you studying data, analytics, or business and want hands-on experience with a modern data platform in a global company? Svitzer has a student position in an international setting where you can keep developing professionally and personally. As a Student Assistant in the Data Platform & Insight team, you'll help build and improve the dashboards and analytics solutions that colleagues across a global maritime business use every day and help more people get value from our data.
We offer
You will join a global leader in towage. Svitzer has 4,400 colleagues and 510 tugboats in 35+ countries, and it provides marine services that make ports and terminals safer, more efficient and more climate friendly. We are building a unified data platform to support better decisions, operational efficiency, and digital innovation. You will work in a role where data, business, and technology meet, and your work will be visible across the organization.
The role is based at our Head Office (HQ) in Nordhavn in Copenhagen, in the central Data Platform & Insight team. We are a lean team with a flat structure, so you will have real independence to shape your role and make an impact from day one.
Svitzer HQ has a strong student community, with social events and regular lunches together.
Your hours are flexible, especially around exams. On average, we expect you to work 15–20 hours per week.
Key responsibilities
You will work closely with our two Data & Analytics Partners, who link business stakeholders with the Data Platform team. Together with them, your main responsibility will be our dashboards, reporting and analytics solutions, both local and global, with one clear goal: more people using data from the Data Platform, and using it more effectively.
Within this area, you will:
- Build and improve dashboards and reports: build, update and improve dashboards and reports in Insight, our Power BI-based reporting solution. Use user feedback and usage data to make them easier to use and more valuable.
- Support global solutions: help develop and improve our global, centrally managed reporting and analytics solutions, together with the Data & Analytics Partners and Data Engineers.
- Support local solutions: help business areas build and improve local reports and self-service solutions based on trusted data from the Data Platform, so they can find answers themselves.
- Drive adoption and training: create training material, user guides and onboarding content, and help run training sessions that give colleagues the confidence to use data in their daily work.
- Track and report on usage: monitor how our solutions are used, spot where uptake is low and suggest improvements that lead to wider and better use of data.
- Test and validate: support user acceptance testing (UAT), check data accuracy and document KPI definitions and business rules.
- Be part of the team rhythm: join daily stand-ups, help coordinate incoming requests and incidents related to reports and dashboards, and keep users informed about progress.

- You are in the 3rd year of a bachelor's degree, or taking a master's degree, in Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a similar field.
- You have experience with Power BI or similar tools, and strong Excel skills. SQL, DAX or Python skills are a strong plus .
- You have a genuine interest in data, dashboards and data visualization, and in how they create business value.
- You are curious and self-driven, and you bring energy and a structured, analytical approach to your work.
- You enjoy taking ownership and seeing tasks through to the end.
- You stay organized when you are handling several requests at once, and you like keeping others informed.
