Job Description:
Jumpstart your Accounting career with Pacific Life! At Pacific Life, we are dedicated to developing the next generation of financial professionals. We’re investing in bright, agile new talent with fresh perspectives to help us innovate, strengthen our financial foundation, and support our long-term business strategy. We are currently recruiting Accounting Summer 2027 Interns.
As an Accounting Intern, you’ll be welcomed into an inclusive and dynamic culture where you’ll play a meaningful role in supporting Pacific Life’s financial operations. Interns will spend their summer working in the Newport Beach, CA office at a Fortune 500 financial services company and gain hands-on exposure to accounting processes within a complex, highly regulated environment.
Program highlights include:
- Training: You will be trained by experienced accounting professionals and gain a high-level understanding of how cash inflows from our policyholders are accounted for and how the inflows invested in Pacific Life’s public and private bonds. For investments, this includes how these are accounted for, monitored, and reported throughout their lifecycle. For the policyholder cash inflows, this includes how the deposits are recorded, reconciled and fed to our downstream actuarial models.
- Mentorship: You will be assigned an Executive and peer mentor who will meet with you to discuss their knowledge and experience and provide you with guidance on your internship and career path.
- Hands On Experience: You will be participating in projects that will give you a true understanding of the profession. The projects you will work on will contribute to your teams’ and company goals.
- Rotational Events: You will be invited to a series of interactive presentations in which key financial and accounting professionals throughout the company will provide an overview of their department and job duties as well as their experiences as an actuary. This will include exposure to General Accounting, Financial Reporting, Corporate Finance, etc.
- Social Activities: Networking opportunities, Executive speaker series, community service events, and social outings.
What You'll Gain
- Exposure to a large corporate accounting and finance organization.
- Understanding of how accounting supports financial reporting, business operations, controls, and strategic decision-making.
