Leidos is seeking a Desktop Support Engineer based in our Pune Office. This role provides 2nd line desktop, hardware, software, network, and office infrastructure support for Pune-based employees and remote users across the Indian Subcontinent. The position supports daily IT operations, onboarding and offboarding, asset management, compliance activities, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement while maintaining a strong customer service focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide responsive 2nd line desktop support for laptops, desktops, peripherals, login issues, Microsoft 365, VPN, browsers, collaboration tools, and remote access solutions.
- Maintain and support servers, switches, and hardware inside secure data center and colocation spaces.
- Investigate, prioritize, update, and resolve helpdesk tickets based on business impact, ensuring timely communication and accurate documentation through closure.
- Escalate incidents to appropriate internal teams, vendors, or service providers when needed, and follow through until resolution.
- Identify recurring technical issues and support sustainable fixes rather than short-term workarounds.
- Support core office technology services, including WiFi, LAN, VPN, internet connectivity, meeting room equipment, printers, scanners, and conferencing tools.
- Perform daily system and backup checks, investigate exceptions, and help users follow approved data storage and backup practices. Experience in tools like Druva InSync, OneDirve & Sharepoint is advantage.
- Manage starter, mover, and leaver IT activities, including device preparation, IT induction, authentication setup (like OTP device enrollment and YubiKey configuration), device collection, and access follow-up.
- Maintain accurate support documentation, asset records, inventory updates, local runbooks, and operational reports.
- Ensure software licensing, security controls, vulnerability remediation, patching, and Infrastructure Services standards are followed consistently.
- Support IT improvement projects, hardware and software refreshes, vendor follow-ups, procurement coordination, and user awareness sessions as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, or a related field, with 2+ years of relevant experience; additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Good to have certification like CompTIA Network+ or CCNA.
- Experience in a technical support role, ideally within a 2nd line or customer-facing environment.
- Working knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems, Microsoft Office, Remote Desktop, and common enterprise collaboration tools.
- Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, WiFi, LAN, VPN, broadband setup, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting communication equipment, peripherals, and computer hardware.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies and endpoint support practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn new and complex products quickly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to produce clear and concise technical updates.
- Ability to work independently in a remote office environment while collaborating effectively with wider IT and business teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting multi-site, hybrid, or remote users.
- Familiarity with ITSM or helpdesk ticketing tools.
- Exposure to endpoint security, software patching, vulnerability remediation, and asset compliance.
- Experience coordinating with vendors, service providers, and procurement teams.
- Ability to support local office infrastructure independently with strong ownership and follow-through.
- This role is ideal for a proactive IT support professional who enjoys hands-on technical support, user engagement, and ownership of local office IT operations in a fast-paced environment.
