Risk Analyst

Overview

We are seeking a Risk Analyst to support the identification, assessment, analysis, and mitigation of operational, regulatory, and business risks. This role will assist with risk assessments, testing activities, data analysis, and the identification of process deficiencies and improvement opportunities.

The Risk Analyst will collaborate with management and business partners to evaluate risks, develop assessment scopes, analyze findings, and recommend risk mitigation, remediation, and process improvements. This position is suited for a developing risk professional with 1–5 years of relevant experience who is building expertise in risk management practices, regulatory requirements, and business operations.

This is a six-month hybrid contract position with an expectation to report onsite a minimum of three days per week. Candidates may be based in Pensacola, FL or Vienna, VA. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM local time. Overtime is not available for this assignment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and support the development of specialized risk assessment scopes.
• Collaborate with management and business partners to develop and optimize risk assessment activities.
• Identify potential business and operational risks, regulatory process deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Gather, analyze, and synthesize data to identify risk trends and areas of concern.
• Present findings and conclusions and recommend risk mitigation, remediation, and process improvement solutions to management.
• Conduct and support specialized risk assessments and testing throughout the assessment lifecycle.
• Evaluate business activities, processes, policies, and procedures for operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
• Assess adherence to applicable federal and state laws, organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
• Apply risk-based assessment and auditing techniques to identify potential control gaps and deficiencies.
• Support the evaluation of operational and regulatory risk controls.
• Assist with tracking risk findings, remediation activities, and process improvements.
• Develop an understanding of business operations, objectives, and associated risks to support effective risk management activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of relevant experience in risk management, operational risk, regulatory risk, audit, compliance, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Auditing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Basic understanding of business operations and operating environments.
• Knowledge of risk-based auditing techniques and methodologies.
• Knowledge of operational and regulatory risk control concepts and practices.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, organizational policies, and industry best practices.
• Experience supporting risk assessments, testing, auditing, or related risk management activities.
• Experience gathering and analyzing data and communicating findings and recommendations.
• Project management skills with the ability to organize and track multiple activities and deliverables.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with management and cross-functional business partners.
• Master’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.
