Description

About the Role
Bluestaq is seeking a Facilities Manager to run day-to-day operations at our Colorado Springs headquarters. You’ll keep the building, budget, and vendors working together so the rest of the company can focus on the mission. You’ll own what’s inside our walls directly — appliance repairs, fitness center upkeep, everyday workplace needs — and partner with the property management team on everything else, from HVAC to life safety to parking. If you take real pride in a clean, well-run space and love being the person who makes things happen, this is your role.

Why This Role Matters
Bluestaq builds software for space missions, national defense, and healthcare systems. Our teams do their best work when the building around them just works — HVAC dialed in for a customer visit, a life-safety inspection that passes clean, a work order closed before anyone has to ask twice. Getting that right, every day, is what lets everyone else focus on the mission instead of the building. Colorado Springs HQ is where the company runs.

Every team, every meeting, every system we build starts from that building working the way it’s supposed to. This role owns that — bringing together the budget, the vendors, and the everyday details that make Bluestaq a great place to build. Beyond keeping things running, you’ll help shape a workspace our team is genuinely excited to walk into every day and do their best work.

These principles guide how we operate:

  • Modern Tools First– Default to proven systems and platforms that eliminate manual work; custom solutions require justification
  • Automate the Repeatable– If you're doing the same task more than twice, build a process or system; manual work doesn't scale
  • Plan Before Executing– Think through the approach, document decisions, and align stakeholders before diving in
  • Simple Beats Complex– Design processes that are easy to understand, follow, and maintain; if it needs a manual, simplify it
  • Quality and Compliance Built In– Build accuracy and compliance checks into your process from the start, not at the end
  • Learn Fast, Improve Always– Try new approaches, gather feedback, and iterate; share what you learn
  • Question "How We've Always Done It"– Challenge the status quo respectfully with solutions grounded in real improvement

What We’re Looking For

Someone who takes ownership without being asked twice. A natural collaborator who works well with the property management team, IT, security, and the rest of the office. Sharp attention to detail and a genuine love of keeping things organized and clean. If that sounds like you, we’d love to talk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construction Project Management: Serve as Bluestaq’s onsite point of contact for the general contractor during our upcoming construction project. Coordinate schedules, walkthroughs, and day-to-day decisions with the COO, keep the project on track, and keep the rest of the company informed as the space comes together.
  • Property Management Partnership: Build a strong, collaborative relationship with the property management provider, covering building operations, tenant relations, preventive maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevator service, janitorial and common-area upkeep, security and access control, fire and life safety compliance (NFPA, EHS, ADA, building code), sustainability benchmarking, CAM reconciliation, the parking garage, and exterior landscaping (including the water feature) — all delivered on time and to standard.
  • Direct Facilities Ownership: Take pride in everything inside our walls — appliance repairs, fitness center upkeep, and any other workplace need outside the lease. Handle it yourself or bring in the right vendor and keep the space looking sharp.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting: Build clear, accurate budget analysis, forecasting, and variance reporting that leadership can act on with confidence.
  • Budget Management: Own the operating and capital budgets, and take satisfaction in finding smart savings and cost-avoidance wins along the way.
  • Vendor Sourcing & Evaluation: Evaluate vendors against real service levels, right-size the vendor mix, and build sourcing plans that include MWDBE bidders.
  • RFP/RFQ Support: Team up with the Contracts Lead and Finance team to run procurement that gets Bluestaq what it actually needs.
  • Workflow & SLA Management: Establish SLAs across facility operations, then keep performance running smoothly within them — aiming to beat satisfaction targets, not just meet them.
  • Third-Party & Engineering Coordination: Coordinate with vendors and engineering teams to keep preventive maintenance on schedule and the building running like clockwork.
  • Compliance & Auditing: Keep the facility organized, audit-ready, and in compliance, day in and day out.
  • Best Practices Implementation: Run regular inspections, virtual and in-person, and use what you find to keep raising the bar on service delivery.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Be the go-to person for Bluestaq leadership and the property management team. Show up, communicate clearly, and make collaboration easy.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Team up closely with the Facilities Security Officer on access control and physical security, the Office Manager on day-to-day workplace needs, and the Corporate IT Engineering Manager on infrastructure tied to the physical space.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Own building-level continuity planning, generator and backup power readiness, and disaster response, partnering closely with the Facilities Security Officer and Office Manager to keep the team prepared.
  • AI-Enabled Facilities Management: Bring AI into facilities operations the way we do everywhere else at Bluestaq — building or adopting tools for predictive maintenance, automated reporting, and smarter day-to-day building operations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Facilities Management Expertise: Proven experience running facilities operations, with strong people leadership and a track record of getting things done.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong organizational skills, with clear, confident verbal, written, and presentation abilities.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable in MS Office and MS SharePoint, with working knowledge of CMMS systems.
  • Vendor & Operations Management: Ready to manage vendor performance during standard and off-hours, including weekends, across multiple facilities with varied needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of real estate, telecommunications, furniture, accounting, and building systems.
  • Experience managing a landlord or property management relationship in a commercial office environment.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field and 5+ years of facilities or property management experience, OR
  • Associate degree in a related field and 7+ years of facilities or property management experience, OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and 9+ years of facilities or property management experience.
Salary Range (CO)
$105,000$115,000 USD

Clearance Requirement: This position may require the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance. To be eligible for a security clearance, U.S. citizenship is required, and an employee must agree to participate in a background screen and credit check. About Bluestaq
At Bluestaq, we build secure data platforms that matter for space missions, national defense, healthcare systems, and commercial innovation. Founded in 2018, we've become a leader in enterprise software and secure data management by staying focused on what counts: modern architecture, operational excellence, and mission impact.

We're engineers, problem-solvers, and builders who take the mission seriously, but not ourselves. We automate the repeatable, question the status quo, and design systems that are as reliable as they are scalable. Whether we're supporting space, defense systems, or healthcare advancements, we build with the same principles: cloud-native solutions, security by design, and relentless simplicity.

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Date the Position Closes: Applications will be accepted for 60 days beyond the posting date, or until the position is filled, whichever comes first.
