The Opportunity
South Bow is looking for a dynamic Tax Analyst with existing experience in Canadian taxation. The role requires someone with the capability and expertise to support compliance and reporting responsibilities.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and file Canadian corporate income tax returns, information returns, and related compliance filings, including T106, T1134, EIFEL, Pillar Two, CbCr, and other regulatory filings.
- Prepare and analyze quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations, including supporting documentation, and provide recommendations on tax reporting.
- Support the preparation of instalment calculations and tax payment requirements.
- Prepare and maintain tax working papers, supporting schedules, and documentation, including ACB schedules and safe income calculations.
- Reconcile tax accounts and analyze financial information to support tax reporting and compliance.
- Lead the preparation and maintenance of certain transfer pricing documentation, foreign affiliate reporting, and surplus calculation requirements.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests, tax authority queries, and advisor information requests.
- Conduct tax research, including monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and provide guidance on the potential impacts to the business and tax reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with accounting, finance, treasury, legal, and other business groups to support tax-related initiatives.
- Maintain tax calendars, filing trackers, and compliance documentation to ensure timely completion of obligations.
- Support special projects and ad hoc tax, reporting, and compliance initiatives, as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4 or more years of relevant experience
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- CPA designation
- Experience in US GAAP reporting requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with income tax software (OneSource, CCH iFirm)
- Working knowledge of D365 and OneStream is considered an asset
- Prior experience in the energy sector
- Enrolled, or intending to enroll, in the CPA In-Depth Tax Program
