Overview
Summary/ ObjectiveThe Equipment Operator II – Turnaround Group is an experienced, hands-on field professional responsible for performing complex industrial cleaning services during refinery and petrochemical turnarounds, shutdowns, and outages. This position serves as a technical resource and experienced member of the field crew, supporting Crew Leaders and Field Supervisors in the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of hydro blasting, vacuum services, tank cleaning, chemical cleaning, and related industrial services. The Equipment Operator II plays a key role in maintaining crew productivity, operating and troubleshooting specialized equipment, identifying and addressing field issues, and providing guidance and hands-on support to less experienced team members. This position requires the ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure turnaround environments while meeting demanding project schedules and customer expectations. All work must be performed in accordance with company and customer procedures, safety standards, and applicable environmental requirements. A minimum of one year of relevant industrial experience is required, along with the ability and willingness to travel as needed to support turnaround projects and customer requirements.
Responsibilities

Perform advanced industrial cleaning activities, including high-pressure hydro blasting and automated water jetting; heat exchanger, bundle, and piping cleaning; vacuum truck operations and solids removal; tank cleaning, degassing, and sludge removal; and chemical cleaning and circulation, as applicable.2. Set up, operate, inspect, and dismantle equipment in accordance with established operating procedures, job requirements, and safety standards.3. Execute assigned work safely and efficiently while maintaining productivity and meeting demanding turnaround schedules and project deadlines.4. Monitor the quality and completeness of cleaning activities to ensure work meets job scope, customer specifications, and inspection requirements while minimizing delays and rework.5. Lead by example by consistently adhering to company safety policies, OSHA requirements, customer procedures, and site-specific safety rules.6. Participate in and support pre-job briefings, daily safety meetings, JSAs/JHAs, toolbox talks, permitting requirements, and other required safety activities.7. Properly use and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow critical safety procedures, including confined-space entry, lockout/tagout (LOTO), line breaking, and high-pressure water hazard controls.8. Recognize and immediately report unsafe conditions, hazards, near misses, equipment concerns, and other conditions that could affect employee or job-site safety.9. Inspect tools, hoses, pumps, valves, and other equipment before use to verify operational readiness and promptly report defective or unsafe equipment to the Crew Leader.10. Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment and operational issues and escalate equipment failures or maintenance needs when additional support is required.11. Verify proper pressure settings, hose placement and management, equipment configuration, and other operating conditions necessary for safe and effective system operation.12. Assist with optimizing equipment setup, work sequencing, and field operations to improve safety, efficiency, and overall crew productivity.13. Serve as an experienced technical resource for the crew, providing hands-on support and guidance during complex or critical industrial cleaning operations.14. Support Crew Leaders and Field Supervisors in the daily execution of work and assume responsibility for assigned tasks or crew activities when directed.15. Provide guidance, direction, and hands-on support to Equipment Operator I employees and other less experienced team members.16. Train and mentor EIS Turnaround team members on equipment operation, safe work practices, proper cleaning techniques, and company expectations.17. Reinforce work standards, accountability, and safe work practices while supporting the continued development and overall capability of the crew.18. Communicate effectively with Crew Leaders and Field Supervisors regarding job progress, safety concerns, equipment issues, scope changes, scheduling, and other conditions affecting project execution.19. Coordinate activities with other Equipment Operators, contractors, and customer personnel, particularly when working in congested or multi-contractor work areas.20. Support effective shift turnover by providing clear and accurate information regarding work completed, job status, equipment condition, outstanding issues, and next steps.21. Maintain professionalism, sound judgment, and focus while working under compressed schedules, changing priorities, adverse conditions, and other demands common to turnaround environments.22. Attend and successfully complete all training, certifications, orientations, and other requirements established by the Company or customer.23. Meet all applicable Company and customer requirements, including required drug and alcohol testing and background screening.24. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position will have some supervisory responsibilities.
Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a petrochechemical / refinery environment. Exposure to cold working conditions during winter months and hot working conditions during the summer months. Exposure to noise, workers must wear protecting hearing equipment or frequently shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. In an emergency situation, exposure to hazardous chemicals may occur and the use of a respirator is required. All employees will be required to be fit tested for the various respirators used as well as the ability to successfully pass a pulmonary function test (PFT).
Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The position of a Equipment Operator II – Turnaround Group can be extremely physical at times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required, and for long periods of time to bend, stoop, walk, climb, squat, reach, kneel, push/pull, stand, sit, hand strength and dexterity. A Equipment Operator II – Turnaround Group will frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift more than 51 pounds. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Must be able to work at heights and be able to climb ladders and stairways and work off platforms. Move about on hands and feet, bending body downward and forward bending leg and spine- working in a bent over position. Ability to verbally communicate alarms or warnings clearly, concisely, loudly, and quickly. Clearly and quickly hear or otherwise sense alarms or warning and take appropriate action, maintain equilibrium to prevent falling when moving, walking, standing, kneeling or crouching- particularly on narrow, uneven, irregular, slippery surfaces, going up and down ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles or other objects using hands, arms, feet or legs. Sensing physical attributes such as size, shape, temperature, texture, or sharpness of an object by touching. Must possess foot agility and dexterity- operating pedals, foot controls, kick bars and other similar tasks that require foot or toe motion. Position Type/ Expected Hours of WorkThis is a project- based position. Typical days and hours of work are variable/ project dependent. Over-time work is common and may be required as job duties demand.
TravelTravel is expected. Extensive travel throughout U.S. and overnight stay for extended periods of time may be required of this position.
Qualifications
Required Education and ExperienceMust have a valid TWIC and valid Driver’s License. Safety Essentials.
Preferred Education and ExperienceHigh School diploma or GED preferred but not required. One to three years of industrial, construction, or labor experience with industrial cleaning is preferred. OSHA 10, NCCER, Confined Space, HAZWOPER (24 or 40) preferred.
