About this Position
The Project Engineer is responsible for following job procedures and regulations to provide technical guidance and delivery of all technical services within the scope of work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to the project team in areas of mine design, planning, scheduling, equipment selection, and implementation of best practices.
- Perform engineering duties related to structural, mechanical, and mining related designs to facilitate and support construction activities on site.
- Prepare technical documents such as engineering design briefs, work instructions, drawings, sketches, lift plans, and reports among others.
- Supervise and report on construction progress.
- Ensure mine systems and infrastructure are properly designed, installed and maintained and that all risks have been analyzed and assessed in the design and construction of the work and final installations.
- Work closely with other crew members to establish and implement a ground control strategy and ensuring proper training and audit processes are in place.
- Ensure detailed layouts and schedules are delivered and safety standards adhered to.
- Responsible for quality control for all project work performed on site.
- Complete turnover documentation and prepare redlines in accordance with project requirements.
- In coordination with other site personnel, compile budgets and costs forecasts.
- Lead the project team in the identification, evaluation, and investigation of systems, methods, and technologies to improve mining efficiency, performance, and reduce operating costs.
- Coach and mentor Engineers in Training (EITs) and other technical personnel
- Be forward looking and identify and mitigate project risks.
- Liaise with Client and provide timely feedback on progress, issues and opportunities.
- Ensure full understanding and compliance with company policies and work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other local regulatory requirements.
- Have the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
- Fully supports and actively participates in the team safety program based on culture and and innovation.
- Ensure that any equipment deemed damaged or unsafe by virtue of a defect, or a machine of which any protection system is inoperative, is not used and communicated to the to the supervisor.
- Work closely with other crew members to create and maintain a synergy required to accomplish the shift line-up in the cycle.
- Ensure applicable procedures and work standards for all tasks are understood, adhered to and complied at all times for all such work.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workplace.
- Utilize all safety systems as specified within the site safety management system.
- Other such duties as may be assigned.
Pre-Employment Qualifications:
- Pass pre-employment drug, alcohol and medical testing
- Criminal Record Check (if applicable).
- Bachelor Degree in Structural, Mechanical, Electrical or Mine Engineering or related field.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the province of Saskatchewan or willing to start working towards registration.
- Full Basic Underground Common Core.
- Minimum 5 years related work experience.

- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Efficient multitasking abilities.
- Able to effectively prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Proven ability to deal with confidential information.
- Able to work in a team environment, be self-motivated and enthusiastic.
- Proficient with mine engineering programs such as AutoCAD
- Understand technical and operating processes relevant to mine design, planning, scheduling and budgeting.
