Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Patient Transporter, you will provide essential assistance and transportation for patients and related items across our campus, ensuring a highly customer-sensitive and seamless experience.Every day, you will promptly and safely transport inpatients and outpatients to and from various hospital areas. You will meticulously confirm patient identification, greet and assist with patient transfers, and make conscious observations of patients' condition during transport, reporting any issues to appropriate personnel. You will also maintain a clean and organized work area and report any malfunctioning equipment.To be successful in this role, you will show a strong commitment to patient safety and provide exceptional customer service to everyone in our facility. You will be attentive, observant, and capable of performing duties efficiently while upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism.
- Transports patients as requested by the transport dispatcher or supervisor/lead according to priority.
- Acts as transport dispatcher when assigned, communicating instructions to other transporters.
- Demonstrates responsibility for patient safety while in transit.
- Observes standard precautions and uses the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task.
- Maintains accurate records of all patients, specimens, and medications being transported.
- Maintains cleanliness of wheelchairs and gurneys.
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School GED General Studies and a minimum of six months of recent work experience in a medical office, hospital/ acute care environment, upon hire
- Requires enough basic education to understand and follow standard practice or oral and written instructions; able to read and write, use simple arithmetic, keep simple records, or use simple office machines, upon hire
- AHA Basic Life Support (CPR, upon hire
- Fire Safety, within 90 Days
