Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst I role provides financial reporting, analysis, and project support under the guidance of Finance leadership and senior team members. This role supports budgeting, forecasting, job cost analysis, WIP and project reporting, and financial data validation while building knowledge of construction project cycles, financial systems, and company reporting processes. The Financial Analyst I supports the monthly cost-to-complete process, backlog revenue and margin reporting, variance analysis, process improvements, and technology enhancements by compiling data, preparing reports, documenting findings, and learning established Finance processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in monthly cost-to-complete review meetings with Project Managers and Finance team members; assist in documenting over/under billing adjustments, approved change orders, and expected margin changes for review.

• Assist with tracking backlog revenue and expected profit margins by compiling data, preparing reports, and escalating questions or discrepancies for review.

• Support profit fade analysis by collecting data, researching variances, preparing summaries, and assisting with follow-up activities.

• Prepare job cost and general ledger adjusting entries for review and approval in accordance with established Finance procedures.

• Assist with tracking inventory valuations and recording inventory usage for jobs, under guidance from Finance team members.

• Support process improvement efforts by documenting current processes, identifying potential efficiency gains, and assisting with approved technology enhancements.

• Assist in developing and generating dashboards and monthly reporting packages for Project Managers, Service Group VPs, and Executive Leaders.

• Support WIP reporting, project reporting, project forecasting, and financial data validation across relevant systems and processes.

• Assist with project structure, data governance, billing, and collections support as directed.

• Prepare standard reports, scorecards, and financial summaries for review by Finance leadership and operational stakeholders.

• Assist with year-end audit reconciliations and account analysis by preparing schedules, gathering supporting documentation, and researching reconciling items.

• Learn and apply company financial systems, construction terminology, job cost processes, and established reporting standards.

• Keep supervisor informed of known issues or actions that may affect the ability to successfully complete assignments or may adversely affect company operations.

• Other projects or duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; 0–2 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Basic understanding of accounting, finance, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis principles.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data organization, pivot tables, lookups, and basic financial reporting or analysis.

• Ability to collect, organize, validate, and analyze financial data with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate information to all levels of management, employees, vendors, and business partners.

• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups.

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts, including discounts, interest, variances, percentages, and related financial metrics.

• Ability to interpret and apply written, oral, or diagram-based instructions and to solve problems with multiple variables in standardized situations.

• Ability to prioritize work, respond to high-priority tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to produce accurate, timely, and detail-oriented work products.

• Ability to comply with company policies and procedures, as well as applicable codes, laws, and regulations.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Experience in construction accounting is preferred.

• CCIFP certification or an interest in pursuing certification is preferred.

• Exposure to Viewpoint Vista, HCSS, Spreadsheet Server, Power BI, SQL, or Crystal Reports is preferred

OTHER:

• Able to work extended hours, up to 12 hours per day, during peak periods.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employees may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Most often, the work is performed in a typical office environment; however, occasional jobsite travel is required. The employee frequently works both independently and with others. The employee may occasionally encounter high noise levels when visiting jobsites, but hearing protection is provided and required.

Additional Job Description:

Base Compensation: $75,000 - $80,000 

The base salary range may vary depending on geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience.
