We provide automation solutions for a multitude of industries; each helping upgrade efficiency, increase throughput and guarantee reliability in production.

Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW

Alliance Automation is seeking a Robotics Engineer to design, program, commission, and

support industrial robotic systems used in custom automation equipment.

This position is intended for an automation professional with strong hands-on robotic

programming, integration, troubleshooting, and commissioning experience. The Robotics

Engineer will take technical ownership of robotic applications while working closely with Controls

Engineers, Mechanical and Electrical Designers, Machine Assembly, Applications, Project

Management, and customers.

The Robotics Engineer supports projects from concept and simulation through programming,

integration, runoff, installation, and customer acceptance. This position is expected to remain

hands-on and capable of solving difficult robotic application and integration problems both at

Alliance Automation and at customer facilities.

TOP 5 RESPONSIBILITIES

Robot Programming and Commissioning

Program, configure, commission, and troubleshoot industrial robotic systems for material handling, machine tending, assembly, dispensing, welding, palletizing, vision-guided applications, and other automated processes.

Robotic System Integration

Integrate robots with PLC/PAC systems, machine controls, safety systems, vision systems, end-of-arm tooling, servo equipment, industrial networks, and other automation components.

Application Development and Optimization

Develop robot programs, motion strategies, frames, payload configurations, recovery routines, and application-specific logic. Optimize robot motion, cycle time, reliability, and overall system performance.

Technical Project Execution

Support robotic applications from concept through customer acceptance. Identify technical risks, assist with project planning, support machine integration, and help projects meet performance, schedule, and customer requirements.

Standards, Support, and Knowledge Sharing

Develop and improve robotic programming standards, reusable routines, documentation, troubleshooting practices, and commissioning methods. Share robotic knowledge with Controls Engineers and technicians to increase the overall robotics capability of Alliance Automation.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

  • Program and commission industrial robots and associated automation equipment.

  • Develop robot programs, frames, tool data, payloads, motion paths, I/O interfaces, and recovery routines.

  • Configure and integrate robot controllers with PLC/PAC systems and industrial networks.

  • Integrate robot safety functions with machine safety systems and applicable safety devices.

  • Configure and support robot-based and external machine-vision applications.

  • Support end-of-arm tooling development, integration, setup, and troubleshooting.

  • Optimize robot paths, motion parameters, cycle time, and application performance.

  • Develop safe and effective automatic recovery and fault-handling strategies.

  • Conduct robotic application reviews and identify potential technical risks before build and commissioning.

  • Support robot simulation, reach studies, cycle-time analysis, and application feasibility when required.

  • Assist Controls Engineers with robotic integration and troubleshooting.

  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of difficult robotic and automation issues.

  • Support Applications with robotic concepts, technology selection, feasibility reviews, quotations, and labor estimates.

  • Participate in machine runoff, installation, commissioning, training, and customer acceptance.

  • Develop and maintain robotic programming standards, templates, documentation, and reusable solutions.

  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to engineers and technicians.

  • Travel to customer facilities for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, training, and production support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Five or more years of industrial robotics, controls, or automation experience preferred.

  • Related engineering or technical degree, or equivalent technical education and work experience.

  • Advanced programming and troubleshooting capability with at least one major industrial robot platform.

  • Experience with FANUC, Yaskawa, ABB, Kawasaki, KUKA, or similar industrial robotic systems.

  • Strong understanding of robotic motion, coordinate systems, frames, payloads, tooling, I/O, and application programming.

  • Experience integrating robots with PLC/PAC systems and industrial networks.

  • Working knowledge of machine safety and robotic safety systems.

  • Experience with machine vision, vision-guided robotics, or robotic inspection applications preferred.

  • Experience with servo systems, end-of-arm tooling, and other automation equipment preferred.

  • Ability to diagnose complex robotic, electrical, controls, and process-related problems.

  • Ability to estimate robotic programming, commissioning, and site-support labor requirements.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to engineers, customers, leadership, and other departments.

  • Willingness to remain hands-on with programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and field support.

  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and travel to customer facilities as required.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

A successful Robotics Engineer does more than program robots.

This person takes ownership of robotic applications, develops reliable and maintainable solutions, reduces commissioning time, improves cycle time and equipment performance, identifies technical risks before they become project problems, and helps increase the robotics capability of the entire Controls Engineering team.

The result is robotic systems that are safe, reliable, maintainable, efficient, and ready to perform in production.
