The Role
The Fidelity institutional is seeking a Capital Markets Strategist with proven global macro subject matter expertise covering both equity, fixed income, and alternative markets. The strategist is the primary client facing interface to our advisor clients and should therefore be able to clearly articulate Fidelity’s macro view and how it could translate into portfolio positioning via in-person, digital, and written medium. The strategists will work alongside sales, marketing, and relationship management to bring our insights and point-of-view to our clients and prospects. A successful strategist should elevate the thought-leadership brand of Fidelity, increase our creditability, and contribute to increase investment solution market share.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
CFA or MBA preferred.
10 plus years investment management experience
Series 7 and 63 licenses required
Deep knowledge of the capital markets across equities, bonds, and alternatives. Experience investing through multiple market cycles.
Ability to consume and synthesize market data, macro trends, internal and external investment research, and economic data to formulate investment insights.
Display presence and creditability via multi-media presentations to represent the insights and investment views of the team including one-on-one meetings, large venue stage presentations, digital webinars, and media appearances.
Capable of interacting and influencing both external clients (advisors, shareholders, boards of trustees, due diligence analysts, etc.) as well as internal clients (sales, marketing, relationship management, etc.)
Creative skills to draft investment commentary, client presentations, social media posts, and investment through-leadership for external audiences.
Ability to travel 50-75%
Act as the face of our asset management global insights, investment, and asset allocation views.
Formulate the communicate the investment insights and asset allocation positioning on behalf of our sales and relationship management associates to clients.
Creating weekly, monthly, and quarterly investment commentary across a range of economic, investment, and geo-political topics.
Evaluate and respond to market and global events, providing an investment point of view pulling from broader views across the Fidelity and externally.
Cover a geographical area consisting of approximately a fifth of the US supporting all sales and relationship managers, and their clients, who reside in the territory. Candidates who are currently domiciled in that region are preferred.
Turn investment, market, and economic insights into commercial outcomes aligned to our investment sales goals as a top five asset manager.

The Team
Fidelity Institutional provides investment management services through investment professionals at financial institutions nationwide including wirehouses, regionals and independent broker/dealers, bank, trust companies, and insurance companies. The company offers Fidelity Advisor Funds, Variable Insurance Products (VIP) Portfolios, Fidelity Advisor 529 Plans, Systematic Investment Plans, Institutional Money Market funds, and a comprehensive line of retirement products and services in partnership with Fidelity’s Workplace Investing arm. Our clients are financial institutions and investment professionals (IPs). Our goal is to help our clients grow their business so that we can increase our assets under management, and our market share.
Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
