About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data & Technology Engineer to design, develop, and support data, automation, integration, and business technology solutions across a modern technology ecosystem. This role combines hands-on technical delivery with technical leadership, enabling the broader team to adopt best practices and leverage AI-powered development tools to improve efficiency and outcomes.

The successful candidate will work across data platforms, business applications, integrations, automation solutions, and AI-enabled development workflows while partnering with stakeholders to deliver scalable and business-focused solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and related cloud technologies.
• Build and optimise data pipelines, transformations, reporting solutions, semantic models, and datasets.
• Ensure data solutions are reliable, scalable, governed, and fit for business needs.
• Develop business applications and process automations using Power Apps and Power Automate.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technology solutions.
• Configure, develop, and support corporate SaaS platforms, including systems such as Zoho, Projectworks, Xero, and Employment Hero.
• Design and implement integrations between business applications using APIs, connectors, and automation technologies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across data, application, and integration platforms.
• Utilise AI development and productivity tools, including Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Replit, and similar platforms, throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Establish and promote best practices for AI-assisted development, including validation, governance, and safe usage of AI-generated outputs.
• Mentor and support engineers, contributing to technical capability development across the team.
• Champion engineering best practices including version control, testing, documentation, code reviews, security, and maintainability.
• Contribute to technical standards, reusable frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership, solution ownership, effort estimation, and delivery planning.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide ongoing operational support and continuous improvement of delivered solutions.

Skills & Experience

• Experience designing and delivering data, integration, and business technology solutions.
• Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including data modelling, ETL processes, SQL, and semantic modelling.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, Azure technologies, and modern cloud data platforms.
• Experience integrating SaaS applications through APIs, connectors, and automation tools.
• Strong proficiency in AI-assisted development and modern engineering practices.
• Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
• Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python, SQL, DAX, or PowerShell is highly regarded.
• Understanding of data governance, privacy, and security principles.
• Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline; and/or equivalent industry experience.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications in Fabric, Power BI, Power Platform, Azure, or related technologies are highly desirable.
