Role Overview
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test, SDET, who is passionate about quality engineering, test automation, and building robust automation solutions for web, API, batch, and mobile applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in automation testing, requirement analysis, test strategy, and Agile delivery.
In this role, you will analyse business requirements, participate in grooming and estimation, design and execute test strategies, identify automation opportunities, build and maintain automation scripts, and help improve product quality based on defect trends and testing outcomes.
What You Will Be Doing
Analyse business requirements and actively participate in requirement grooming and estimation.
Work closely with product owners, developers, quality engineers, and cross-functional teams to understand features and define effective test coverage.
Develop test strategies, create test plans, and execute test cases for new features, enhancements, and production support scenarios.
Identify manual test cases that are suitable for automation and develop automation scripts using Playwright, Selenium, and other automation tools.
Build, maintain, innovate, and continuously improve automation frameworks, test processes, and quality engineering practices.
Automate testing across UI, API, batch, and mobile channels to improve regression efficiency and product confidence.
Perform API testing for SOAP and REST services using tools such as SOAP UI and Postman.
Validate applications through functional, regression, accessibility, mobile, and microservices testing.
Write, implement, maintain, and review automation scripts and test artifacts.
Use SQL to construct moderate to complex queries for validating data and troubleshooting issues.
Participate in Agile development methodologies and sprint ceremonies, including planning, grooming, reviews, and retrospectives.
Track, analyse, and manage defects while recommending quality improvements based on defect patterns and root causes.
Collaborate across geographies and teams to support delivery, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
What You Bring
Strong hands-on testing experience with a focus on automating web and API tests.
Experience in UI automation testing, API testing, and automation script development and maintenance.
Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright and Katalon.
Expertise in automation testing across UI, API, batch, and mobile applications.
Experience developing or contributing to automation frameworks for enterprise applications.
Experience on scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Groovy, Shell, Perl, or similar.
Strong understanding of manual testing concepts, test scenario design, test case writing, test artifact review, and defect management.
Experience testing SOAP or REST APIs using SOAP UI, Postman, or equivalent tools.
Experience with accessibility testing tools and practices such as JAWS and Level Access.
Experience in mobile testing and web-based application testing.
Ability to write moderate to complex SQL queries for data validation and troubleshooting.
Good understanding of SDLC, defect management processes, and engineering tools such as Jira, Maven, Git, SOAP UI, Silk Central, BrowserStack, WinSCP, and Putty.
Ability to troubleshoot basic to complex technical issues and contribute to root cause analysis.
Experience working in Agile and Scrum environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
