Who we need
We're looking for a strategic communicator, trusted advisor, and strong storyteller to join our Internal Communications team on a 12-month maternity leave coverage contract.
This role follows a hybrid work model, with an expectation of working from our Toronto or Waterloo office twice a month.
The expected base salary for this role is between $80,000 – $110,000 CAD per year, depending on experience.

What you will do
- Partner with leaders and stakeholders across the organization to develop and execute communication strategies that support business priorities and employee engagement.
- Create clear, compelling communications across multiple channels, including newsletters, email campaigns, intranet content, leadership messages, and town halls.
- Translate complex business updates and organizational initiatives into meaningful and actionable messages for employees.
- Provide communications counsel and support to leaders, helping them communicate confidently and effectively.
- Manage multiple communications projects simultaneously, balancing priorities, timelines, and stakeholder needs.
- Measure communication effectiveness, gather feedback, and recommend improvements that enhance employee understanding and engagement.
- Help bring our culture to life through storytelling that highlights our people, achievements, and impact.
What you will bring
- 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to make complex ideas easy to understand.
- Experience developing and executing communication plans for a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent organization and project management abilities, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A consultative mindset with the confidence to advise leaders and recommend communication solutions.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
- Experience in internal communications.
- Communications consulting or advisory experience.
- Experience supporting organizational change or change management initiatives.
- Experience partnering with Human Resources or employee experience teams.
- Experience in financial services, insurance, or another regulated industry.
- Familiarity with employee communication platforms, intranet tools, or communication analytics.
